Chapter 88
The scales in Castiel's heart had tipped so heavily in Macy's favor that he was willing to go to such great lengths, treating Niamh, who had long given up on him, with such gentleness once more. Unfortunately, she was no longer in a position to receive such kindness.
Everything on the dining table was prepared with Niamh's tastes in mind.
"Why aren't you eating?" Castiel looked over at Niamh, irritation. flickering in his eyes, though he managed to suppress it.
"I think you might have put something in the food," she responded bluntly.
That was exactly what happened in her previous life. After dining with him, she woke up in a hospital operating room. Hence, she wasn'tText content © NôvelDrama.Org.
brave enough to dine with him again.
His expression hardened as he slammed his fork onto the plate. " Haven't you had enough?" His patience was thin, to begin with, and her endless antics had drained it completely.
Niamh rose to her feet, looking down at Castiel with defiance. "Why do you think I'm doing this?"
"Does he really not have a clue why I'm acting this way?" she brooded. It wasn't fair how they were allowed to plot against her, yet she wasn't allowed to get upset.
Castiel could feel his temples throb. He was about to respond when he heard Renee's gentle voice from outside the door. "Oh, you're such a sweetheart! I thought you wouldn't be back until the 25th." Chargers
"It's Grandma Margaret's birthday; of course, I had to be here in person!"
"That's so thoughtful of you." Renee's tone grew lighter as she continued.
Renee had never spoken like that in front of Niamh. The other voice, however, was unfamiliar to her but not to Castiel. Instinctively, he glanced at Niamh.
He had just risen from his seat when the women walked in. "Are you sure it's alright for me to be here?" asked the young lady.
Niamh remained silent, but at this point, she had a pretty good idea of who Renee had brought. That woman had already walked in, yet she still pretended as if it wasn't appropriate for her to be there. She shot a scornful gaze at Castiel, who had already gotten to his feet.
Renee's voice sounded once again. "Don't worry, she's no longer living here. Don't let me down tonight, will you?"
"You can count on me, Madam Jamison!"
"Why're you still calling me that?"
"I won't let you down, Mom!"
"That's more like it!"
Castiel's expression darkened even further, while Niamh's derisive smile deepened. They hadn't finalized their divorce yet, and Renee had already lined up his next conquest. So, all that scheming had nothing. to do with Macy after all! As infuriating as that realization was, it also brought her a strange sense of relief.
Renee stepped through the door and almost jumped at the sight of

the couple. "W-What are you two doing here?"
Her mind went blank for a second. It was obvious she hadn't expected Niamh to be home.
Niamh looked at Renee with nothing but contempt. This was her mother-in-law, whom she had once bent over backward for. How utterly ironic.
Naomi, who had arrived with Renee, froze when her eyes met
Niamh's, and she couldn't hide her stiffness.
Renee shot daggers at Niamh. "What are you doing here? I thought you'd already moved out."
"How else would I get to see the real you if I wasn't here?"
"Niamh Weaver!" Castiel's expression twisted when he witnessed her squaring off with his mother.
Niamh's eyes were ice cold as she looked at Castiel and sneered, What? Even now, you expect me to respect your mother? As if she's deserving of it!"
