Chapter 5 He Was Waiting for Her
Chapter 5 He Was Waiting for Her
Alexia was about to pierce her straw into the milky tea cup when she heard her husband’s name. She looked back, and saw the man in black suit was standing behind her. Why was he here?
“…” Chaim stared deeply at Alexia with an obviously gloomy face, having heard everything she said clearly.
“The staff’s work schedule needs to be adjusted. Even if they don’t want to go to the dining hall for lunch, there’s no need to stay in the office and gossip.”
“I, I know, Mr. Lancaster,” Mr. Smith said, rushing up beside him. “I will definitely make better arrangements to enrich employees’ entertainment life in the company.”
He glanced at Alexia fiercely before hurriedly following Mr. Lancaster outside.
“It’s so awful!” Lynn’s face turned pale, “Aily, you’ll be dead meat! Mr. Lancaster must have heard you!”
“I… I don’t know.” Alexia squeezed out a mirthless smile, and didn’t really want her milky tea anymore.
“Lynn, if my takeaway comes, please help me get it. I’ll handle the remaining documents.”
She took her things and hurriedly left, knowing she was probably in trouble. Though she didn’t know him well, Alexia knew what kind of person Chaim was. It was strange if he was not angry.
Alexia spent the whole afternoon in the office deliberately, finishing all the work.
Looking up at the clock, 3:00 p.m., not far from the time off work. Seeing that there was really no way to delay, Alexia had to pluck up the courage to make a call to the president’s office.
After being promoted to secretary, she had her own office beside the president’s office and she could faintly hear him moving about.
The phone was quickly answered, her heartstrings instantly tightened as she heard his voice. “Mr., Mr. Lancaster? It’s me…”
“Sort out all the company’s projects from last year to the present and bring them to me before the end of your work day.” The man’s cool voice came through the microphone.
“All projects?” Alexia’s eyes widened. Before the end of her work day?! Impossible!
“Do you have any questions?” he asked coldly.
“No, no, none.” There was nothing else she dared to say.
She offended Chaim first. Who else could be blamed? After hanging up the phone, she almost cried.
She wouldn’t be able to get off work anytime soon.

Finally, at 9 p.m., Alexia finally sorted out all the projects.
She stretched before bringing all the documents to the president’s office. But there was no one.
“I knew it. I was the only one required to work overtime, humph…” she muttered and placed the documents on Chaim’s desk.
Then she returned to her office to shut down the computer, grab her bag, and leave the company at a weary pace.
There was no one on the street that late at night. Alexia took out her phone to hail a taxi. However, after waiting for nearly twenty minutes, no one took her call.

She was so angry, but her only option was to go to the bus stop not far away to wait for the bus.
She only made it two steps when a dazzling light beamed behind her. Looking back, a black car slowed down to a stop beside her and the car window was rolled down. Chaim frowned and looked at her. He really didn’t expect her to work overtime even though it was his order in the first place. But what shocked him the most was that he had waited for her until now…
“Get in the car.” Chaim didn’t want to mention this, so he coldly ordered Alexia instead.
“Why, why are you still here?” Alexia’s eyes widened.
Didn’t this man get off work long ago? Was he waiting for her?
“I’ll repeat myself only once, get in the car.”
Chaim knocked on the steering wheel impatiently, not in the mood to waste time with her.
“Okay, okay.” His commanding tone made her flinch. Not daring to say anything, she scurried into the passenger seat, “I really don’t have to trouble you. I can wait here for bus.”
Chaim ignored her words, “Fasten your seat belt.”
“Okay.” Alexia nodded quickly.
Her Mr. Right not only became her husband, but was also willing to wait for her to get off work. She never dared to dream this before, but now it happened. A dream came true?
Alexia clenched her hands, not daring to breathe, fearing that the dream would suddenly end and she would wake up.
The speed of the car wasn’t fast and the heating was turned on. For some reason, Alexia suddenly felt uncomfortable. Her ruddy face became pale, and a cold sweat gradually oozed from her smooth forehead.
Chaim quickly realized something was wrong, and stopped the car, “What’s wrong with you?”
“It’s nothing, it’s just a stomach attack.” She held her stomach weakly, “I’ll be fine with food and medicine.”
She had suffered from stomach illness for a long time, which would attack once or twice on occasion. She had been used to it all these years.
Because the pain became more intense, she subconsciously bent her body slightly while speaking, trying to reduce the pain.
Chaim frowned, “We’re going to the hospital.”
The car quickly turned around. Alexia was in so much pain that she could only curl up in the seat. But the man’s taut profile, the way he seemed to care, made her happy and warm in the heart.
With Chaim by her side, she feared nothing!
