Chapter 07

She’s not worth the wait

The ringing alarm rang directly at Elina’s ear. She groaned, using her left hand to pick up the alarm and pulled out the battery, hurl the alarm aside. Covered herself property with the duvet, it was still quite early, just a little sleep would do, maybe thirty minutes and she will be up. She had slept late. About 3:00 am, while writing to Carol..

“Get your crazy ass up!”

“Wwwhat..” she spurred. Turning to her side.

“Oh El. You’re so dead!”

Why was she hearing Barbra voice in her sleep, probably a dream.

“Get up.” She felt the duvet rolled out of her body, the comfort she was feeling was gone.

“And you were saying last night, you’ve got an appointment on your new job by 8. Huh?” Elina eventually opened her eyes, and saw Barbra standing defensively above her head.

“What are you doing here?”

“And What was all those trash you were saying last night, you’re quitting.”

Oh my! She jumped down but missed her feet and end up falling on Barbra.

Ouch!

That hurts a little.

She leaped on her feet, towards the bathroom.

“You’re ain’t getting that job cause you’re so late. And by the way. Which job is that.”

“I’ll tell you when I come back.”

“I should at least know where, just in case you plan on not coming back.”

“Don’t be silly Barbra!” She yelled from the bathroom, throwing her clothes off.

“This is my home.”

“Yeah I know ” she rolled her eyes, sitting on the bed.

“It’s just a month, and I would be back I promise.”

“How are you so sure you’re getting the job.”

“Optimistic.”

“You’re crazy. I kinda imagine how Carol..” before the next world drops, she was out of the bathroom with a towel around her chest.

“Did you..”

“I don’t have time for that. I just wash my face and..”

“Elina!”

“Am so late, I was warned against going late and it’s almost 8, it’s two damn hours from here.”

“It’s like you’re leaving town!” She yelled.

“Am not leaving town, Barbra!” She yelled back. Fishing out her dress from the wardrobe.

“You’re unbelievably! Are you sure it’s genuine. What’s if something happens to you. You’re risking your life, for what, money!”

“It’s not just about the money!”

“Then what, I know it’s money. Don’t try hiding it from me.”

“Don’t act like you know me, my mother would have at least live if there was money, though she would have died anyway but there wasn’t, father left for business trip, it was just me, I had nothing”

“You were just a little girl. It wasn’t your fault..”

“She died right in front of me. You talk about risk. Risk. All my life has been a risk, For once, I wanted to live for myself not for anyone, do what I want. Go where I want to. I never wanted a life of Cinderella.. that’s why I made stepmom throw me out..”

she was crying when she stopped.

“All I want was to be me.” She poke her finger on her chest.

“I know it’s a risk, I just had to go for it. Maybe, it would be as bad as it looks. Just maybe my wish would come true.”

“Am sorry El. I was just worried.”

Barbra smile softly at her. And pulled her into a comforting hug.

“Don’t forget to call me, if anything happens, I will run over to get you. I got your back.”

“Glad I’ve someone.” They chuckled. She wiped Elina tears off.

“Cmon, you’ll be more than late. You should wear the blue dress. It matches your eyes. It brings out the smartness in you.”

“Love you Barbra.”

“Love you more Elly.”

******

Elina glanced at the tall building in front of her, looking like a prison. She pulled out her phone from her purse, putting a call through Ethan.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

“Elina Brooke. What can I do for you?”

She could hear the amusement in his voice.

“I’m at 203 lanwan..”

Ethan chuckled. His plan worked after all. The perfect revenge he could get was this. He just killed two birds with a stone. The look on Kenzo’s face when he would see who he had been waiting for. Just perfect, he’s so smart, so smart, coming up with something like this, damn! He muffled a laugh. And Elina, definitely not seeing the light again. Perfect punishment for what she did to him. And Ray, it would be easy taking him out. He couldn’t helped it, he laughed.

“Did you just got there.”

“Yes.”

He laughed harder, a mocking laugh. He just won.

“It’s almost 11..”

“Why are you laughing.”

“Am sorry, I just couldn’t help it. Go in, they are waiting for you.” He hanged up, laughing that he felt his stomach would tear up.

Elina bite het lip, she could feel tears prickle at the corner of her eyes. She sniffed and blinked the tears off. She was so nervous and scared. The confidence she was feeling a while ago all wiped out. She just want to turn back and run home.

Even the huge black gate was intimidating..

So she was so confused.

What’ll I do mom. She touched her necklace, it was her mother’s, everything she was confused and don’t know what to do, or she was scared, just like now, the necklace was the only thing that can calm her nerves.

Bring back her lost confidence.

Aziel paced in front of the table, it was five minutes past eight and there hadn’t been anyone here. With the look Kenzo was giving him. He would have been dead already, if looks could kill.

“Seems this was your plan to waste my time, isn’t?”

“I would never do that sir.”

“Can you explain this.”

“Am sorry.”

“If I see Ethan, I would chop his head off.” He stood up from the chaise.

Walking to the door. Aziel hurried up to keep up with him. Feeling really bad for this. For Kenzo to wait. That mean he was really curious, to know what Ethan would bring to him.

But he was disappointed instead. Kenzo adjust his suits and got in the car.

“Sir, if the guest did come…”

“Throw whoever it is, in the dungeon.”

He replied abruptly. And the car door was shut by Aziel.

He watched. The car drove out of the compound, while he wait for the guest. Coming down here…

“Sir Aziel, you may want to look into this.”

“What is it. Ben.”

Ben moved away, so he could look into the camera.

His eyes nearly popped off his socket. Seeing the girl, so small and timid, with her big glasses, standing by the gate.

“Oh my God!” He exclaimed. Completely confused, what kind of mess is this. She need to go back. She can’t come in here. She can’t. Else she dies.

“Put a call through Ethan now!”

“Yes sir.”

“Ethan!” He growls lowly in the phone.

“What madness is this!”

“Oh, you’ve seen her, she’s pretty isn’t she? Get her to work there, a servant would do, who let her help Buka in the kitchen.”

“Ethan!” He yelled. He was so angry. With the anger he was feeling he could kill someone. Ethan laughed into the phone.

“Kenzo will never forgive you for this. You know he hate girls. Particularly. Nerds” he drawled the last words.

“That’s why you send her here, to get revenge on Kenzo. I thought you’ve forgotten about that and you’d forgiven him. ”

“I’ve. This wasn’t part of it. And don’t make me remember what happened.”

“Then why this?”

“To make her pay for what she did to me, the humiliation she caused me.”

“You’re out of your mind!” He hanged up. And punched the wall. And punched it again. Till his hands bleed.

“Sir, Boss is calling..”

“Is the guest not there yet, hurry up and come over to the..”

“It’s a girl, sir.”

He didn’t hear from Kenzo for about five minutes. Only his breathing.

“What did you say?”

“It’s a girl, couldn’t be more than eighteen or nineteen. I didn’t know this was all Ethan’s plan.”

“What did I tell you.”

“Send her to the dungeon.” His voice was devoid of emotions.

“It wasn’t worth my time after all.”
