Chapter 33 He Is Shameless
Chapter 33 He Is Shameless
The man stood close to her, giving her an indistinct smile. His voice made her feel both relieved and distressed. She realized that she was so astonished to see him that she said his name unconsciously. An intelligent man like him would notice that she was hiding something.
But…
So what?
She had a different face now. What could he possibly do to her if she kept hiding it?
Margery pinched her finger, calmed herself down, and smiled at him, "You are humourous, Mr. Barrett. Do you mean I have an average face? You jumping out suddenly in the late-night really terrifies me. Of course, I fail to call you respectfully in such a case."
She was having a bright smile, but behind the smile, she was suffering from turmoil. Her watery eyes revealed her displeasure.
Golden knew she was worried about her son, Ethan.
He and she had met each other for the first time in a hospital somewhere in the warm south.
She and Melvin were standing close to each other with two children, which were a boy and a girl.
He heard that the boy called Melvin dad.
She was the wife of Melvin and gave birth to his children, whose last name was Byrne. Now the kid was gone, no wonder why she would telling Melvin tearfully on the phone.
But why would she call his old number for finding her kid?
Golden was unpleasant, grabbed her thin arm, and dragged her close to him, "Why do you call my number if we aren't familiar with each other?"
"I haven't called you! Let me go, I don't have time mess with you!" Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Margery was frantic about spending so much time but found nothing about Ethan. She wanted to get rid of him immediately but Golden didn't loosen his hand. Desperately, she gave Golden a slap.
Hoo!
She slapped nothing while her wrist was held by Golden.
With her hands under control, Margery raised her head and stared at him angrily, "What do you want, Mr. Barrett?"
He moved close to her, "Forty minutes ago, a number, started with 139 and ended with 3366, called me. Is that your number?"
"Yes… It's mine."
Margery realized that she must have called Golden mistakenly in the hurry, "Sorry, Mr. Barrett, I called the wrong number. Your number is so similar to Melvin's. I can show you on the phone if you don't believe me."
Golden was dubious, but still released her arms.
Now that her hands were free, she selected Melvin's number quickly on the phone and showed it to Golden, "Take a look."
Seeing the number which only had one difference from his, Golden lowered his eyes. He knew he couldn't get more from her, so he left her alone. He moved the searchlight in his hand, found a
direction, and said to Margery before walking down the hill, "follow me."
"To where?"
"To find your child."
"In this way?"
Margery hesitated for a minute but still decided to follow him. Although, she was sure about whether he was right.
She had been wandering around the forest so long but found no sign of Ethan.
He arrived here some minutes ago. How could he know where Ethan was?
"You don't believe me? Or do you have a better option?"
Golden turned around and saw she was walking slowly. She might be exhausted, stumbling, and staggering, but still staying several meters away from him. He made a dissatisfied look and reached out his strong hand to hold her thin wrist, dragging her to his side and supporting her waist with his hand, "Since I'm already here, you should listen to me."
He said in a calm and reliable manner, which soothed her heart riddled with panic.
Thanks to his support on the waist, she felt much easier to walk on the mountain.
Ethan was the priority for her right now. No matter how much she hated him, she shouldn't reject his help.
In terms of explaining the similar appearance of Ethan, she could improvise.
Therefore, she raised her head and said gently, "I follow you, Mr. Barrett, if this can help me find Ethan."
Her sudden obedience and soft voice attracted him deeply. When he felt the softy of her waist, he swallowed.
The feeling that made him lose his head came again!
It felt just the same as the time at night, in the toilet of the private box, when she touched him with her delicate hands to make him feel like he was in the sky.
It might be accidental to feel it once, but when feeling it twice…
Golden smiled slightly. He thought it worthy of coming here.
Margery had no idea about what he was thinking, only noticing that he would glance at her sometimes when they were walking. She thought there was some dust on her face and rubbed it with her hand.
Until he had glanced at her so many times she finally realized what he was thinking and said in annoyance, "Mr. Barrett, are you here to help me or peek at me?"
He smiled, "To help, and to appreciate you."
Come on.
Margery never knew that he was so shameless until now. She glared at him with anger and hatred, thinking he didn't worth her faithful love five years ago.
At present, they were just doctor and patient, but he helped her as a strange lady so much and even flirted her by words. He was still the heartless Golden Barrett.
Did he still remember Margery Byrne, who had waited for his love desperately and ended up dying in a raging fire?
"Mr. Barrett, I have married, and have children."
Margery smiled and stood back a few steps quickly. She got rid of the hand supporting her waist and stared at his face, "Now I hurry to find my lost son. If you are willing to help, I will be grateful, and my gratefulness is the only thing you can get."
Her enchanting face looked so detached now, making her purer and more delicate, just like the lady vanished five years ago.
Golden's expression turned solemn and continued to walk without saying anything.
He still had time. Sooner or later, he would discover her secret.
Now that he stopped saying anything and it was impossible for Margery to talk to him, the atmosphere was quite awkward.
In the silence, Margery suddenly heard a voice, clear but distant.
