Chapter 13
Title: Couples’ workout
Maybelline Walter POV
It was the weekend and since I had nothing to do, I was going to sleep my ass off on the bed almost all day, but my plan was soon sabotaged by the knock on the door, forcing me to wake up.
“Who is there?” I groaned tiredly as I sat up on the bed.
“Good morning, ma’am. It’s me, Adelie. Boss asked you to meet him in the gym,” I heard Adelie’s voice from outside and I yawned tiredly.
“Alright, I’ll be there,” I replied to her lazily and I heard her receding footsteps which I already assumed she was gone. I lay back on the bed and closed my eyes, and just like that, I was unconscious of where I was.
I had no idea how long I’d been asleep until I heard a faint voice.
“Wife… Wake up,” I was so engrossed in the sleep that I just tossed on the bed sleepily.
“I’m coming,” I whined with my eyes closed.
“We need to go to the gym,” I heard Miles’s gentle voice again, and this time, I was forced to wake up. My jaw dropped when I opened my eyes and found him towering over me. His body was all sweaty and I hated to admit that he looked fucking hot with those sweat on him. He seemed to have just worked his ass out.
“Let’s go to the gym,” He held out his hand to me.
“I don’t…” I wanted to tell him that I don’t gym, but I gave up halfway and just took his hand since it was written in our contract that I had to keep fit.
‘Couples’ workouts’
‘Couples’ shopping’
‘Couples’ vacation’
‘Couples’ date nights’
‘Couples’ Funtime’ were all included in the contract and even though I knew good to the gym was going to be a problem for me, I still signed it because of the benefit that comes with it.
Miles helped me out of bed, gave me my gym outfit, and then excused me so I could wear them. I stared at the bed, the urge to sleep spurred through me and I felt tortured, but going back to bed was the last thing I wanted to do.
I wore the clothes and went to visit the toilet before I went to join him outside.
“I’m ready,” I said to him when I stepped out of the room and met him waiting just outside for me. His eyes narrowed and his jaw dropped to the ground when he saw me. I didn’t know if he was impressed by how the dress turned out in my body or if he was disgusted.
“Is it not nice?” I asked him and checked myself out one more time.
“It’s good. This way,” He walked ahead of me and I trailed behind him.
We soon arrived at the gym, and my jaw dropped to the ground when I saw his personal gym. It was like those commercial fitness centers. The gym was too big and too equipped for just personal use.
“Are you ok?” My heart missed a beat when I heard his voice behind me, and I flinched.
“Hmm. I’m fine,” I nodded.
“Alright. Let’s get to it. Shall we?” He asked as he came to stand in front of me.
“I’ve not been to the gym before,” I hated to admit it to him but I couldn’t pretend to have been and end up messing everything up, yeah?
“I’ll be your coach,” He replied to me, and my eyes narrowed.
“Hu… huh?”
“I will be your coach,” Of course, I heard when he first said that.
“Oh… Ok,” I felt uncomfortable having him coaching me, but I nodded regardless.
Just then, Miguel came to join us. He was sweating profusely like he’d been working out all day.
“Sister-in-law… You’re here?” He smiled at me widely, and I slowly nodded.
“Good morning,” I greeted him.
“Good morning, sister-in-law. Did you sleep well?” He asked, and I nodded.
“I see, Miles is going to coach you…”
“Can you coach me instead, please?” I chipped in before he could finish his statement, and he glanced at Miles.
“The thing is…” I paused and stepped forward.
“I’m still a beginner and this is my first time coming to the gym. Mr. Miles might not be able to coach a beginner, so I think you could help out,” I heard Miles scoffed behind me.
“I told you to stop addressing me like that. You should just call me by name,” He thought he muttered those words, but since he was standing close behind me, I heard him clearly.
“Uhm… That? Miles is very good at coaching, and I’m sure he would do better than I can. Why don’t you let him coach you instead?” Miguel suggested after he glanced at Miles.
“I insist,”
“Uhm… Alright, then. Anything for you, sister-in-law. Come with me,” He said to me, and I couldn’t contain my excitement so I smiled. I couldn’t have imagined how draining it would be to be coached by Miles. I didn’t want to get distracted and end up doing something stupid.
“Thank you,” I said to him, then turned to Miles. I almost freaked out when I saw the deep frown on his face, but I tried not to be concerned.
“Uhm… I will go ahead now,” I said to him and finally left with Miguel.
Miguel first took me to the treadmill to warm up.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“Get on it, sister-in-law,” He said when we got to the treadmill.
“Hmm,” I nodded and got on it.
“It’s your first time using this, yeah?” He asked, and I nodded.
“Don’t panic and just go with the flow. I will make it as slow as I can,” He assured me, and I nodded.
“Do you want to use this? You could listen to music while on it,” He offered me a headphone and I quickly took it from him and wore it.
“I will start the movement now,” He uttered, and when I nodded, he pressed the button. It was at level one, so the treadmill moved slowly and after I got used to it, he put it in the second level.
I glanced over at Miles and found him glaring at us from where he was standing and lifting weights effortlessly. Now that I saw him lifting those weights, I now know where his nice body came from.
“Why is your brother glaring at us like that?” I removed the headphones and asked Miguel. He glanced over at Miles and back at me.
“Maybe he is not in a good mood. Don’t mind him and just do your thing,” He said to me, and I nodded.
“Do it slowly. I need to visit the restroom,” He patted my back and walked away, leaving me to myself.
After I got used to the second level, I pressed the fifth button and it started moving fast while I jogged on it as fast as I could, vibing to the calm music I was listening to.
Again, I pressed the seventh button and from that to the ninth, but I soon regretted it because it started moving so fast that I could barely hold on anymore. I jogged as fast as I could to match the speed of the treadmill. It got so fast that I couldn’t keep up with the speed anymore as it threw me off, crashing me hard against the stationary bike which was just in front of the treadmill. I yelped painfully.
“May!” I heard Miles called and he rushed over to me.
“Are you ok? Are you hurt?” He squatted beside me and held me in his arms. He looked so worried and freaked out.
“I’m fine. I think I set the treadmill too fast,” I gasped for breath as I tried to sit up on the floor, but I winced when I felt a sharp pain in my neck.
“Are you ok?” He asked worriedly.
“I think I sprained my neck,” I replied to him as I held the back of my neck.
“I told you to let me do it. Why were you not careful? Do you want to hurt yourself?” He vented out as he stood up and picked me up in his arms.
“I’m fine…”
“You’re not. You hurt your neck,” He cut me off angrily, and I bit my lip.
“What happened?” I heard Miguel’s footsteps as he rushed inside.
“Why did you leave her to herself?” Miles snapped at Miguel angrily.
“I’m sorry. I went to use the restroom…”
“And you left her to hurt herself? You could’ve told her to get off first. What if it was serious?” He snapped at Miguel again.
“It was my fault, and besides, I’m fine. You don’t have to scold him like that,” I intervened.
“Wrap things up here and call the doctor,” Miles said to Miguel instead and finally left the gym while still holding me in his arms carefully like a baby.
“You really don’t have to hold me like this. You don’t need call the doctor. It’s not that serious,” I said to him when we got to my room and he sat me on the bed.
“Are you ok?” He cupped my cheek in his palm, his eyes piercing into mine as he asked me, but I just stared at him wordlessly. Why was he caring so much about me?
