Chapter 157
Alex’s POV.
The city lights blurred past the tinted windows of the car as I leaned back in my seat, running a hand over my face. The flight from Dubai had been long, but it wasn’t the fatigue that weighed on me. It was the reason I’d come back earlier than planned.
There was no use staying there any longer. Dubai had been a distraction, nothing more. I’d done what I could to hold my ground, to keep Nexus Innovations and Daniel Brooks at bay, but the fight wasn’t in Dubai…it was here, where Christiana and the kids were.
For all his schemes, Daniel couldn’t take what I had…not Christiana, not Emma and Ethan.
The car pulled up outside the hotel, and I stepped out, straightening my jacket as I took in the familiar sight of the building where Christiana was staying. My phone buzzed in my pocket as I walked through the lobby. It was Sebastian.
“Where are you?” I asked, my voice low.
“Just pulling up,” he replied. “Are you sure about this? It’s late.”
I glanced at my watch. 9:30 p.m. “It’s fine. I want you to meet them tonight.”
There was a pause before he said, “Alright. I’ll see you soon.”
ended the call and headed for the elevator, my heart pounding harder than I wanted to admit. Seeing Christiana again after everything that had happened…after the calls, the distance, the uncertainty…I wasn’t sure how she’d react.
The elevator dinged, and I stepped out, making my way down the hall to her suite. A few moments later, Sebastian joined me, looking slightly hesitant.
“You ready for this?” I asked, giving him a small smile.
He shrugged, but there was a flicker of nervousness in his eyes. “You’re the one doing the introductions.”
I knocked on the door, and within seconds, it swung open. Christiana stood there, her hair slightly disheveled, as if she’d been pacing. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
“Alex!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms around me before I could say a word.
I wrapped her in a tight embrace, letting out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. She smelled like home…something familiar and grounding.
“I’m back,” I murmured against her hair.
She pulled back just enough to look at me, her eyes searching mine. “You should’ve told me you were coming. I was so worried.”
Before I could respond, two smaller figures rushed to the door.
“Daddy!”
Ethan and Emma barreled into me, their tiny arms wrapping around my legs. I crouched down, pulling them into a proper hug, their giggles melting away the last of the tension I’d been holding.
“I missed you two,” I said, ruffling Ethan’s hair and kissing Emma on the forehead.
“We missed you too! Emma said, her voice full of excitement.

I straightened, glancing at Sebastian, who was standing quietly by the door. “Hey, I want you to meet someone.”
Christiana’s brows furrowed slightly as she stepped aside, allowing Sebastian to come in. I placed a hand on his shoulder, looking between him and the kids.
“This is Sebastian,” I said, my tone soft but firm. “Your uncle.”
Ethan’s eyes went wide as he stared up at him. “Uncle?”
Sebastian knelt down to their level, a small smile on his face. “Yeah. I’m your dad’s brother.”
Emma tilted her head, studying him. “You look like Daddy… but not really.”
Sebastian chuckled, glancing at me. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
Christiana stepped closer, her expression unreadable as she watched the interaction. Ethan and Emma seemed fascinated, their initial shyness fading quickly.
“Do you like ice cream?” Ethan asked abruptly, making us all laugh.
“Who doesn’t?” Sebastian replied.
Ethan grinned, grabbing Emma’s hand. “Maybe you can eat with us sometime. Mommy says Daddy eats all the chocolate.”
“Ethan!” Christiana exclaimed, her cheeks turning pink as she shot me a playful glare.
Ismirked, sliding my arm around her waist. “Not true. I just eat my fair share.”
As the kids continued peppering Sebastian with questions, I caught Christiana’s gaze. There was a flicker of relief there, but something else too…something unspoken. I squeezed her side gently, silently telling her that we’d talk later.
For now, this moment was enough.
Finally, we were together after an hour with Sebastian and our kids.
I pressed Christiana against the door, my lips devouring hers as though I hadn’t tasted her in years. The kiss was deep, intense, and raw, the kind of kiss that leaves no room for words. Her fingers gripped my shirt, pulling me closer, and I could feel the heat of her body against mine.
“I missed you,” I murmured, my lips trailing along her jawline to the sensitive spot beneath her ear.
Her breath hitched, and she whispered, “Alex… I…”
I silenced her with another kiss, my hands sliding down to her waist. The dress she wore hugged her perfectly, but I wanted it gone. Slowly, I tugged the zipper down, feeling the soft fabric loosen around her.
“Let me see you,” I rasped, stepping back just enough to let the dress fall to the floor.
She stood before me in nothing but a delicate lace set, her skin glowing in the little light of the room. Her cheeks flushed under my gaze, and she crossed her arms instinctively, but I caught her wrists, gently pulling them away.
“Don’t hide from me,” I said, my voice thick with desire.
Her lips parted as she looked at me, her eyes filled with trust and longing. I leaned in, pressing a trail of kisses from her collarbone down to the curve of her breasts. Her head fell back, soft moan escaping her lips as my hands explored every
inch of her.

I lifted her effortlessly, carrying her to the bed. She gasped as I laid her down, the cool sheets meeting her warm skin. I climbed over her, my lips finding hers again while my hands roamed lower, tracing the curve of her hips.

Her fingers fumbled with the buttons of my shirt, her urgency matching mine. “You’re wearing too much,” she whispered, her voice breathless.
I chuckled, helping her remove the shirt and tossing it aside. Her hands skimmed over my chest, her touch setting my skin ablaze.
“Christiana,” I breathed, my voice low and gravelly. “You drive me insane.”
She smiled up at me, her eyes dark with desire. “Then show me.
I needed no further invitation. I kissed my way down her body, savoring every sound she made, every shiver that ran through her. Her hands tangled in my hair, pulling me closer as she arched beneath me.
When I finally joined her, it was like coming home. The connection between us was electric, each movement igniting a fire that consumed us both. I held her close, my lips finding hers again as we moved together, our breaths mingling, our hearts racing.
Her name slipped from my lips like a prayer, and she clung to me as though I was her anchor. Time seemed to stand still, the world outside fading into nothingness. All that mattered was her…her touch, her voice, her love.
When we finally collapsed into each other, spent and breathless, I held her close, my hand gently stroking her hair. She rested her head on my chest, her fingers tracing circles over my skin.
“Hove you,” she whispered, her voice soft but certain.
I kissed the top of her head, my arms tightening around her. “And I love you. Always.”
Christiana lay in my arms, her head resting against my chest as her fingers traced lazy patterns over my skin. The warmth of her body pressed against mine should’ve been enough to keep my thoughts at bay, but the storm inside me wouldn’t settle. I thought we were done talking for the night, that we could just exist in this moment. But then she shifted, propping herself up on her elbow, her eyes locked onto mine.
“I know everything, Alex,” she said softly, but there was an edge to her voice.
My heart sank. I stiffened beneath her, my fingers pausing where they’d been tangled in her hair. “What do you mean?” I asked carefully, trying to keep my voice even.
Her gaze didn’t waver. “About Daniel. About what he’s been doing to you.”
Shock ripped through me. I pushed myself up, leaning against the headboard, the sheets pooling around my waist. “How do
know about that?”

She sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Sebastian. I got it out of him after I called you while you were in Dubai I knew something wasn’t right with you, Alex. You sounded… off. And you’re not good at hiding things from me.”
I let out a breath, running a hand through my hair. “Damn it, Sebastian,” I muttered under my breath, but there was no anger in my voice. Just resignation.
“He didn’t want to tell me,” she continued, her tone firm. “I had to push. But eventually, he caved. And now, here we are.”
I met her gaze, knowing there was no point in holding back now She deserved the truth. “Fine,” I said, my voice low.
“Daniel’s been coming after me. After us. He sent me packages… things to mess with my head. Pictures of you, notes saying
he’d win you over. He’s made it clear he wants you, Christiana. And he’s not exactly subtle about it.”
Her jaw tightened, and I could see the anger simmering in her eyes. “That son of a…”

“That’s not all,” I cut in. “He’s been using Nexus Innovations to go head–to–head with my company. He’s trying to beat me on every front, to force me into a corner. But the worst part is knowing it’s all because of you.”
She sat up fully now, the sheet wrapped around her like a makeshift dress. “You think I don’t know that?” she snapped, her voice rising. “Barely ten days ago, he walked into my office with some ridiculous proposal. He wanted to collaborate with my company. Something about integrating AI into jewelry. It sounded incredible, but I knew better, Alex.”
“What?” I stared at her, stunned. “He approached you?”
She nodded, her expression dark. “I told him I’d think about it just to get him out of my office, but I had no intention of saying yes. Not after the way he’s been acting. I didn’t even tell you because I knew it would upset you. And honestly, I didn’t want anything to do with him.”
Relief washed over me like a wave. She hadn’t entertained his offer. She hadn’t fallen for his games. “Christiana,” I said, my voice soft, “thank you. For telling me this. For… for not giving him an inch.”
Her eyes softened, but her frustration was still there, bubbling beneath the surface. “He used to be my friend, Alex. A good friend. But now? He’s turned into this obsessive freak. I don’t even recognize him anymore.”
I reached out, cupping her face with my hand. “He doesn’t matter,” I said firmly. “You and me…we’re solid. No matter what he tries, he’s not going to win. He can’t take you from me.”
She leaned into my touch, her expression softening even further. “I wouldn’t let him, Alex. You’re the only one I want. You need to believe that.”
“I do, I said, my voice thick with emotion. “Hearing you say it… it just makes everything else feel insignificant. Daniel can try all he wants, but he’ll never come between us.”
Her lips curved into a small smile, and she leaned forward, pressing a kiss to my lips. It was soft, reassuring, and everything I
needed in that moment.
