Despicable Roommate

Blocked

Lynn’s POV

Alec had blocked my number. That was the only reasonable explanation for that. Alec was one person whose phone was always on. I fell back on the bed as my eyes moistened. I thought I had lost him forever. After a long crying session, I wiped my face and went out of the bedroom. The moment I opened the door, the smell of pancakes assaulted me. It felt so good waking up to breakfast prepared by someone else. This was something that Alec would never do, and neither would lazy Kari. Frowning, I went to the kitchen to find out who was saving our hungry a**es.

“Good morning, Lynn.” Jen yelled. She was wearing a black apron under a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

“Good morning,” I said. “Didn’t know you slept over.”

“How could you know when you ignored all of us and locked yourself in the room before the party ended? What happened to you?”

“I was not feeling great.”

“Didn’t that walk help? You should have just drunk more beer. It would have made sleeping easier. You look like you didn’t sleep a wink, and your eyes, they’re very red. What the hell happened to you? That boy is not worth crying so much over.”

“You don’t know the whole story.”

Jen sighed. “Oh hell, this is worse than I thought. I don’t know what that guy has to do to make you believe that he’s not the one for you. Do you want to see him having sex with another woman before you believe he’s up to no good or what? I don’t understand you, Lynn. You used to be the sharpest among the three of us, but clearly Alec Warton messed up your mind. If you want to hear it from his mouth, it’s okay. We’ll ask him to come over or take you to him. Whatever you want, girl.”

I shook my head, not wanting to reveal what I had discovered the night before. I had to find a way of talking to Alec by myself, without their involvement. They had been the ones who delivered my stupid threats and sent him parking from the apartment. I was pretty sure they were the last people he wanted to see.

“No, I don’t want to talk to him,” I lied.

“Okay,” Jen said. “Now, come and take your breakfast.”

I went and picked up one of the plates she had served food on and took it to the breakfast table. Kari came out of her bedroom.

“Morning, guys. Breakfast smells good.”

“Morning,” I said.

“You look a mess,” Kari said. “Wanna talk about it?”

I shook my head. Thankfully, Jen did not bring up what we had talked about.

“Are you going for the car wash?” Jen asked Kari.

“No, don’t feel like it. It’s the first Saturday back home. I just want to chill in bed. Living with a man is something I don’t ever want to repeat again. They’re so lazy, and annoying. Life is good again.”

“I agree. It can be really draining.” I said. I missed Alec but I want to live in the same apartment with him, at least not while we were still in college. I was beginning to realise why older women always advised us not to move in so fast. Technically, I didn’t move in with Alec but we used to live together as boyfriend and girlfriend, the same way people who move in together do. It was almost like marriage, and I was a hundred percent sure I wasn’t ready for that.

After breakfast, Jen started packing up her things. When it was time for her to go, Kari decided to go out with her because she wanted to pick up snacks from a nearby grocery store. After they had left the room, I waited for a minute before going to the window. When I saw them going through the gate, I rushed into Kari’s room and grabbed her phone. Thankfully, she had not changed her password. I searched for Ron’s phone number. I released a breath when I found out. After quickly typing it to my phone, I closed the window and placed the phone where I had found it.

I left the room and nearly had a heart attack when the front door opened after I’d just closed Kari’s door. I grabbed a broom that was near the door and pretended to be sweeping.

“You’re back,” I said.

“I forgot to carry cash,” she said. “That store is very unreliable sometimes. Their machines are always breaking down for some reason. I don’t want to make two trips.”

When she left, I went to my and closed the door before dialling Ron’s number. He did not pick up the first time so I tried again.

“Hello,” he said, voice sounding groggy.

“Is this Ron Warton?” I asked.

“Yes, who am I speaking to?”

“Lynn Harris.”

“Alec’s girlfriend? What do you want? Aren’t you supposed to hate me, after what I did to your best friend? Does Kari know that you’re speaking to me? Is she there?”

“No, she has no idea, and she doesn’t have to know. I stole your number form her phone. I need to talk to Alec but I think he blocked me.”

“I would have blocked you if I was him as well. What’s wrong with you? I thought Kari was crazy, but you’re something else. How could you just quit on him like that?”

“I was angry and hurt, you know. I couldn’t think straight but now that I have had time to do that, I want to listen to him.”

“Oh darling, I think it might be too late. I can take you though. You’re prettier than Kari and I’ve been a bit lonely lately. That stupid hoe Carina went back to some Ross guy she claimed to like.”

What a prick. He and Carina were no different from each other but he was acting like she was worse. As if I would ever want a man like him.

“I’m serious,” I told him. “Could you please give me Alec’s address?”

“I’ll give it to you. I’ll send it to you in a minute. If he beats your stupid a**, don’t blame me.”

“Thank you so much. I’m really grateful that you’re willing to help.”

“You know you can always thank me in better ways,” he said. I felt like hanging up but I knew that it would annoy him. If I annoyed him, he would not give me what I wanted. I hated being at the mercy of a jerk like him.

I rolled my eyes. “Do you wish to help me or not?” I asked. My voice was firm and sharp.

“Fine, I was joking. Alec is my good bro, I can’t sleep with the girl he loves. Or loved, I don’t know. You’ll soon find out.”

“Didn’t you sleep with Carina?” I questioned. “You even introduced her as your girlfriend to us.”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“Alec has never been in love with Carina. She was never his girl.”

I sighed. “Oh, okay. I understand.”

True to his word, Ron sent me the address in a text. I wrote it down on my notebook before typing it in my notes app. after that, I went to take a quick shower because I needed to see Alec as soon as possible. The anticipation was building up each passing minute and I couldn’t wait to see him again.
