Chapter 1270
Mae watched in horror as Jacob and Carly were carried out. "Oh my goodness, are you two alright? Still breathing?"
"Mom, please, calm down..." Carly said, almost losing her lunch. "I'm breathing, but if you shake me any longer, I might not be." Mae quickly let go of them, her hands trembling.
Jacob and Carly stood there, wobbling like they'd just stepped off a roller coaster.
"What on earth happened to you two?" Joey asked, eyebrows knitted in concern. They looked like they'd seen a ghost.
"We..." Jacob gulped hard. He couldn't spill the beans!
Flora being the girlfriend of the Enforcement Division's head? That was above his pay grade to discuss.
He feared for his life if he said anything!
"Pfft."
Sydney, unable to hold back, chuckled at their wobbly knees. "Carly, after all your training, how can you still be this scared? What could possibly spook you like this?"Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
She had no idea yet about Teddy and Kenneth. Once she found out, she'd be laughing out the other side of her mouth.
"Sydney, instead of grilling us, maybe brace yourself. You might end up in tears. Heads up, your man and your brother are out of the game."
Sydney furrowed her brow. "What are you talking about?"
What did he mean by "out of the game"?
"Take a wild guess." Jacob smirked.
"Quit the cryptic nonsense." Sydney rolled her eyes. Jacob loved to stir the pot. "My fiancé is the captain of team nine in the Enforcement Division. Who could possibly take him down? Haven't you had enough drama?"
"Joey, get a grip on them," someone close to Joey whispered, seeing the argument heat up. "Sydney's Kenneth's fiancée. Why stir the pot with her? Upsetting her is like poking a hornet's nest in the Enforcement Division." "Exactly," another voice quietly agreed.
Messing with Sydney was bad news.
After all, Sydney was a powerhouse herself, with ties to the Medical Hall and a close friendship with Tara Roth.
Hearing this, Sydney couldn't help but grin. It's not her fault she was just that influential!
Tara seemed distracted, having shown up specially today only to miss seeing that man...
"Hey! Captain Rory's here!"
Suddenly, someone called out.
Rory, the captain of team two, was striding in with his crew.
Sydney's eyes sparkled at the sight.
"Captain He!" she greeted warmly. Rory was more formidable than Kenneth, and she'd crossed paths with him a few times. Rory wasn't a fan of hers, but out of respect for Kenneth, he'd been civil.
She made sure to approach him, wanting everyone to see how well-connected she was within the Enforcement Division.
Sure enough, people noticed her friendly interaction with Rory, and envious looks spread across the room.
Carson's gaze turned icy as he watched Sydney. Kenneth wasn'ta
bad guy, but his association with et
had led him down the wrong path.
"Hold it!"
Sydney stopped dead in her tracks, just two meters from Rory, as he
barked, "Don't come any clot e
don't want your filth on me!
The words hit hard, leaving Sydney stunned. She stared at Rory, disbelief etched on her face.
Why was he treating her like this?
She felt humiliated. "Captain He..."
"Who said I was your captain?"
Rory was fed up, his voice cold and loud, "Today, the Enforcement Division took action against two rule-breakers."
