Chapter 879
The door to the conference room swung open, and in walked Cathryn, surrounded by a throng of bodyguards.
She was dressed in a flowing white gown, her long hair cascading down to her waist. She was exuding the grace and elegance of a noblewoman.
Debra hadn't seen Cathryn in quite some time. The last time they met was at her and Marion's engagement party.
Flanked by her entourage, Cathryn sat down across from Marion.
Anton Ellam stepped forward and declared, "Cathryn is our chosen leader."
The other directors echoed his words. "Cathryn is Shawn's daughter, and she majored in finance and economics, with outstanding academic achievements. She is far more suitable for this position than you, Marion." "At the end of the day, you're just an outsider. You caused Shawn's death and took his position."
The room buzzed with murmurs, each voice dripping with contempt for Marion. In the past, no one would have dared to speak to him this way.
But now, things were different. They were now backed by the Eaton family and felt emboldened to challenge Marion.
Debra's brow furrowed as she watched the scene unfold. She was about to speak up, but Marion placed a hand on her wrist, signaling her to wait. He seemed calm and collected, as if he had anticipated this confrontation. Soon enough, a group of lawyers entered the conference room.
The shareholders immediately voiced their displeasure. "What is the meaning of this, Marion?"
Marion calmly said, "Show them the documents."
The lawyers nodded, placing several file folders of the table. The lead lawyer announced, "These are Mr. Bernard's will and the distribution of all his is assets. He signed these documents on his deathbed, and these two gentlemen are the notaries."
"Shawn had a will? Why weren't we informed?" gasped the directors.
They had worked with the Bernard Group for years and considered themselves veterans. On his deathbed, Shawn had verbally appointed Marion as his successor.
Marion had acted swiftly, eliminating any opponent. They hadn't dared say anything about it before, and now they were shocked to learn that Shawn had left a will.
"This is my business, and I have no
obligation to explain it to you," Marion said.calmly. "Shawn's assets, properties, and all shares of the
Bernard Group have been
transferred to me. Everything is
legally binding. Do you have
anything to say?"
"Cathryn is Shawn's daughter. She has the right to inherit. You have no blood relation to Shawn. Why would he leave everything to you? You're lying."
Marion gestured to the lawyer beside him. "Open the documents and show them."
"Yes, sir," the lawyer replied, quickly opening the folders and distributing the documents to the shareholders.
The will confirmed everything Marion had said. It bore Shawn's signature and fingerprints.
Marion added, "Don't forget, I acknowledged Shawn as my godfather, so it's only natural that he left his estate and company to me."
The shareholders were left
speechless. They had assumed that
Shawn had been coerced into
handing over his empire to Marion But now, with all the legal documents in front of them, they had no choice but to accept that Marion was the rightful heir to the Bernard Group. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
