Chapter 886
Melody watched as Sophie packed her bags, a cold smile playing on her lips.
'Debra, you might have Marion's protection in Seamar City, but overseas, your luck might just run out,' she thought.
In Marion's house overseas, Debra looked at the array of jewelry, designer gowns, and limited-edition bags that the maid had brought in.
She glanced at the three wealthy ladies sitting across from her on the sofa and smiled. "These gifts look exquisite and quite valuable. It's clear that a lot of thought went into them."
Those ladies looked flattered and tried to sound humble.
"Mrs. Houston, your figure is the best among all the socialites I've seen. Even our top models can't compare. We just finished a top-tier luxury gown, and I thought it would be perfect for you. Only someone with your figure can do justice to this dress."
"My family is in the jewelry business. We've been fortunate to have Mr. Houston's support over the years, so we wanted to give you our store's most prized possession. This ruby is flawless, with top-notch craftsmanship. Only such a gem can complement your grace." "Mrs. Houston, this is a limited-edition bag from our new store, a one-of-a-kind piece. It's a small token of my regard."
...
Debra leaned back on the sofa. "I appreciate your kindness. I've only just arrived overseas with Marion, and I'm not familiar with many of the businesses here. I didn't realize the Houston Group had so many partners. It seems there are plenty of opportunities for us to make money together in the future."RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
One of the ladies boasted, "Of course, Mr. Houston just has to lift a finger, and the world shakes."
Debra smiled but said nothing.
Another lady chimed in, "Mrs.
Houston, we came here today not just to bring gifts but also to invite you to some social events-cocktail parties, galas, and the like. It would be a great way to pass time and get to know the other ladies in our
circle."
The third lady nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we have afternoon tea salons and ladies' nights almost every day. While the men are out making money, we enjoy ourselves." Debra took a sip of her tea, still not engaging in the conversation.
The atmosphère grew a bit
awkward, but one of the ladies broke the silence, "And I heard that Melody Nichols arrived this morning. Many
people in our circle are eager to invite her to the ladies' nights"
Debra paused mid-sip.

Another lady added, "Yes, I heard she hasn't left Seamar City in decades. I wonder what brought her overseas suddenly."
"Indeed," the third lady chimed in. "I heard she's quite traditional. She vowed to remain a widow and stay in Seamar City for the rest of her life. It's quite unusual for her to come overseas."

Debra set down her teacup. In her previous life, Melody never left Seamar City, not even on the day she died on the operating table. There must be a reason behind it.
One of the ladies noticed Debra's interest and said, "I heard she was once your mother-in-law. You must know about her past with Mr. Eaton Sr."
"Really? Are you suggesting that they had a romantic history?" Debra asked.
