Healing The Ruthless Alpha.

Melanie led us out of the hideout after the shootout and my fire incident. We’d been discovered so we had to find another shelter.

“The Alpha is unreachable. The only hideout similar to this which I know is east so we are going east.” Melanie informed us. “Here,” she threw clothes at me.

I gulped when she mentioned Cahir being unreachable even though I didn’t want to think the worst. I changed as fast as possible into the black clothes Melanie handed to me and donned the baseball cap.

“What’s the situation?” I asked when we got into the car

“Aristo is still on the loose. Five of the twelve packs under Alpha Blood have betrayed Alpha Cahir but the others have mobilized into action. Two borders have fallen but the Alpha has sent back up and they’ll be strengthened soon,” Melanie spoke in a businesslike tone. “Are you comfortable?” She glanced at my stomach.

“Y–Yeah.” My heart pounded nonstop so I knew my blood pressure had risen. Catching on fire left my skin dry but the baby was fine. I was fine. I had to be.

The designated driver drove at neck–breaking speed to the east. The streets were deserted with bonfires lit at odd locations and the smell of blood permeating the air. We were still driving when I felt a jolt.

“S–Stop the car,” I shouted with a trembling voice. I’d scented my mate but his scent was faint amidst an overwhelming scent of blood. The car didn’t stop immediately until Melanie gave the command after I almost jumped out of the moving vehicle.

I broke into a run once my feet touched the ground. My heart pounded and for a split second, my vision grew dark but I refused to fall.

‘Please be okay. I whispered to my

child.

I skidded to a halt when I saw a menacing black wolf examining what could only be called a massacre. The wolf stood proudly while dozens of wolves lay unmoving around it. There were large puddles of blood surrounding the wolf and it went to one of them, putting its paws into the puddle and then hitting the ground to create a splash.

“Cahir,” I called his name with a thick voice.

The wolf swerved as if surprised and I caught a glimpse of golden yellow before the eyes turned to red. I let out a sigh of relief. I thought I had lost him for real this time.

“Luna!” Melanie and the others came panting after me, then they stopped; the colour draining from their faces as they saw the gory scene before us. “Is that “ I heard Melanie whisper.

Cahir shifted back to his human form and the others turned their faces away in respect. “What are you doing here?” He demanded, his eyes flicking to Melanie who had also turned away from the sight of his

nakedness.

“We were attacked,” I answered for the gamma.

“Right here.” My heart fell and then it rose again, racing with anger,

The bastard that caused it all emerged from the shadows, at least fifty wolves following behind him.

“Yes, I followed you,” he said in a mocking tone. “I couldn’t believe it at first but you really are a rogue.” He stopped a foot away, wolves snarling behind him. They followed him like their Alpha, glowering at my

mate.

“I knew you’d be lurking,” Cahir said with a cruel laugh and in the blink of an eye, he shifted back to his wolf form and charged at Aristo, catching the beta mid–shift.

“Luna, please stay behind me.” Melanie stepped forward.

Around me were wolves with eyes gleaming with malice. They ignored Melanie and went for my mate. My heart stuttered when they attacked Cahir. I’d seen him in action before, seen him cut down three wolves in the blink of an eye but I was too nervous then to appreciate the way he moved.

He was nothing short of a blur, dancing in and out of the mob of wolves, his fur blending in with the night as he cut them down one after the other. The warriors who were guarding me joined to side their Alpha and it was crystal clear that something was wrong because when the wolves who fought with Cahir got too close to him, he almost attacked them. They weren’t the enemies but I guess it was hard for him to know that when consumed by bloodlust.

Melanie joined to defend Cahir but he didn’t seem to need any help. My heart in my throat, I prayed to the goddess for my mate’s safety. Due to the baby, I couldn’t even shift and my heart beat so fast I got dizzy.

“You don’t look very surprised.” A cold voice said from beside me. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

I’d been so focused on my mate that I failed to see Aristo move. He’d detached himself from the fight after dozens of wolves attacked my mate and he was back in his human form, flexing his muscles with a smirk.

“You will come with me now, won’t you?” He grinned, reaching for me. I stepped back as a dark blur tackled him to the ground. Aristo shifted almost as fast as Cahir.

My heart beat from my throat, my eyes jumped around the place and my hands cradled my stomach. Whenever Cahir moved, the dozens of wolves Aristo came with followed him. They ignored Melanie and the other wolves beside my mate. It seemed that he was their target.

He was.

When they swarmed him, he had no choice but to let Aristo go and fight them off. Aristo, the bastard, he’d set this up. He had no plans of fighting Cahir. He knew that alone, it was impossible to take down Cahir so he brought a mob.

A scream stuck in my throat when a wolf tore a chunk off my mate’s side. Blood gushed from the wound and I could see his flesh hanging out but he didn’t seem to feel anything. He continued to cut down Aristo’s men without limping.

Melanie’s wolf came to stand beside me as Aristo turned to me again. She growled and charged but Aristo was faster. They met midair. I flinched when he dug his teeth into the side of her neck, getting on top of her. It was clear that the beta and gamma were an uneven match. He had the upper hand despite how skillfully she fought.

“Shit,” I cursed when my hands caught on fire. Not for the first time, I wished I had an active gift. My eyes

caught a small glimmer in the dark and I moved. A gun

I’d learnt the basics of using a gun and only ever shot in an arranged shooting range. My hands quivered as I picked up the weapon.

Aristo raised his head and his eyes caught the gun in my hand. The expression in the wolf’s eyes chilled my blood. My legs took a step back of their own accord as he flung the gamma away. The wolf hit a wall and went limp.

“Melanie!” I rushed to the gamma. The surge of healing power I felt earlier had faded, leaving me powerless. Yet, I touched Melanie, hoping I had even the tiniest bit of mana to do something

“Will you shoot me, Sia? Remember I am your only friend in this pack.” Aristo had shifted back to his human form. His skin had bruises here and there and blood covered his mouth. Melanie’s blood A haze of red covered my vision.

Behind him, Cahir’s midnight wolf emerged from a pile of lifeless wolves. His eyes glowed golden as he took purposeful strides forward.

Following my gaze, the beta turned to see Cahir advance on him and he cursed, quickly shifting. This time, when they met, Cahir already took care of the mob he came with so it was just the two of them. And as with the beta and gamma, the Alpha and beta were unevenly matched.

Nausea rose in my throat. Cahir took his time with Aristo. Unlike the other wolves that met a quick death, he seemed to indulge his bloodlust with Aristo. His claws dragged down the beta’s sides. He dug his claws into the beta’s eyes, bit off a chunk of his ear, clawed his neck, everywhere. Injuries here and there that made the beta bleed.

Then a wolf advanced on them and from the way it moved, I knew on instinct that it would go for my mate. I was no sniper but I shot at it and the bullet caught its shoulder. The sound of a gunshot

pulled my mate’s attention to me and Aristo used that opportunity to break free of his grip and stagger away.

The black wolf with golden eyes stared into my eyes for a moment before turning to give chase to his

prey.

“Melanie.” I lowered myself to the limp wolf beside me. I felt a pulse but it was faint. “Melanie, can you –

“If I can’t have you then he can’t!” My gaze snapped up to see Aristo with a gun trained on me.

Everything happened in an alternate universe as the sound of gunshots filled the air. Aristo fired and like an out–of–body movement, I felt my hands raise and my finger pull the trigger. I heard a mind– numbing howl of anguish that made my heart clench. Someone let out a peel of maniacal laughter but all these were drowned out by that howl.

A body hit mine. My body went down, the force of shooting and then being tossed aside sending me to the ground. I braced myself with my hands, cautious of my baby in all this. Then everything came back to earth.

I blinked once and then again to make sure I wasn’t having a nightmare. “Cahir,” I called my mate. I wasn’t hurt but my mate-

“This bastard.” I heard a groan from Aristo and I scrambled to get the gun, shooting him again.

“Cahir,” I called my mate again. The wolf seemed to be smiling at me as his eyes closed. “Cahir!” I screamed, tears stinging my eyes.

There was a flurry of events after that. Someone shouting for the alpha, someone calling, my name, things I didn’t understand. My heart pounded so hard I felt I was having a heart attack.

Someone grabbed me and carried me to a car as I shouted. My throat hurt. My heart hurt. Everything hurt. My tempera rose as I screamed myself hoarse and then the darkness spotting my vision spread

and swallowed my consciousness.

“Sihana,” a voice whispered, a hand clasped mine. “Wake up.” It was a command.

My eyes fluttered open.

“Cahir,” I moaned the name. Was it a dream? “You’re alive.” I coughed, trying to seat up but a hand held me down.

“I’m quite difficult to kill, belle.” He smiled and it wasn’t a dream. Tears streamed down my face before 1 had time to stop them, I wanted to jump up and hug him but he held me down. “You have to res”

“What happened?” I asked when he didn’t let me up. There were eye bags underneath his eyes.

“You fainted and have been unconscious for two days.”

He gave a rundown of what happened after that. He’d been shot but the bullet grazed his side. The first commandant found us. Melanie was still in a critical state and with Aristo’s death, the invaders had retreated to regroup.

The Greyson family were being monitored but Dorian Greyson was still at large, still sponsoring the attack against Alpha Blood. Dark Moon retreated and tendered an apology but their case would be settled with diplomacy, meaning Cahir would rip as much wealth from them as possible.

“It’s not over?” I asked in a fatigued voice.

“It almost is, belle,” he assured me. “We just need to find –” He broke off, his eyes becoming unfocused as someone opened a mind link with him. “The first commander found Greyson,” he smirked. “I’ll get a doctor for your checkup.” He stood.

Although he tried to hide it, he winced as he stood. He wasn’t completely fine but he smiled at me. What mattered now was that he was alive, Aristo was dead and the traitor funding this nonsense had been captured.

For the next three days, the hospital had me under watch. My blood pressure had shot up too high. Cahir came in and out of the hospital and every time I saw him, he looked a bit better despite the dark eye bags around his eyes.

With the death of their leader, the dissenters started to flee to Dark Moon pack. To avoid Cahir’s wrath, their Alpha refused them entry to his pack so it became easier to round them up. Dorian Greyson was back in the dungeons. The threat was gone, my mate and child were safe, as was I.

“I feel so much more relieved,” I sighed as we drove to a hotel to spend the night since our home had been destroyed.

“It’s all thanks to you.” He kissed my cheek. “And I’m sorry for underestimating you. Even the bastard didn’t know you would shoot.”

“No, it’s all thanks to you.” The sight of so many wolves underneath his feet made me shiver till now. “Thank you.” I burst into tears. Damn hormones!
