Chapter 5 Last Night, I Gave You The Chance
Cecil looked at Linda with a faint sneer. “Too far?”
“Yes,” Linda replied firmly, straightening her back to stand tall.
Despite being in the presence of all the servants, Cecil coldly said, “I’m being kind enough to let you stay here. Do you expect to stay for free and live on the labor of others?”
“I can do the same job as them, but I have a name. My name is Linda Ye. You can’t let them insult me,” Linda said, raising her chin defiantly.
“Insult?” Cecil echoed slowly.
Then, he suddenly smiled and asked, “Aren’t you a fake?”
Linda clenched her fists tightly.
She could not refute Cecil’s words.
Seeing her glare at him silently, Cecil waved his hand, signaling to the servants to leave.
Everyone dispersed, leaving Cecil and Linda alone in the hall.
“You’re right. I’m a substitute, a fake. You can insult me on all you want. But why are you asking the servants to insult me as well? Is this your way of venting your anger?”
Cecil silently played with the lighter in his hand. Without looking at her, he said ambiguously, “Last night, I gave you the chance to be Mrs. Bo, but you missed it. So in my eyes, you are no more than a servant.”
Linda was taken aback.
‘Chance?’ She couldn’t believe her ears.
Before she could say anything, Cecil added, “In fact, it’s not fair to say that, either. At least the servants are staying here with their true identity, but you… …are not.”
“What on earth do you want?”
He shot Linda a cold look. “You can stay here as a fake until Leona comes back.”
Linda was bristling with anger, but when she thought of the Ye Group, she lost the courage to argue.
Lowering her voice, s
he tentatively asked, “Then… what about the financial problems of the Ye Group?”
Instead of replying, Cecil made a call and ordered for money to be transferred to the Ye Group.
After hanging up the phone, he looked at Linda and asked, “Are you satisfied?”
Linda pursed her lips. “Since it’s a deal, I don’t have to thank you.”
Cecil snorted and handed the phone to her.
She squinted her eyes suspiciously at him and asked, “What should I do?”
“Call Martin Ye.”
Linda remained silent.
She had a bad feeling about this, but she knew very well that she couldn’t disobey him now.
After hesitating for a moment, she took the phone and dialed her father’s number. A joyful male voice boomed from the other end of the line. “What’s up, Cecil?”
Linda bit her lip and said, “Dad, it’s me.”
“Linda?”
“Yes.”
Martin’s tone became serious. “What’s going on?”

“Give the phone to him.”
Linda handed the phone back to Cecil and said, “My father’s on the line.”
When Cecil took the phone from her, his fingertips brushed against hers. Linda quickly withdrew her hand, as if she had been burned.
Cecil narrowed his eyes at her, giving her an ambiguous look.
‘Is this woman so sensitive to the touch?’ But he quickly looked away.
He put the phone on speaker and politely greeted, “Mr. Ye.”
“Cecil, now that you’re married to Leona, it’s time for you to address me in a more intimate way.”
Cecil sneered and glanced at Linda. Although his tone wasn’t disrespectful, it was indifferent as he said, “If the woman I married was really Leona, I would of course address you in an intimate way.”
