Bailey's pov

We were in the parking lot, trying to figure out who will go with who. Kaleb and Stefan both had their cars and Katrina wanted to ride with Stefan because Kaleb drives too fast for her liking.

I on the other hand knew that if I did ride with Kaleb and Mira, things would be awkward. It would not be the usual bickering we do, but I'd instead be quiet. Which was really not me and Kaleb's usual around Mira. We bickered like a cat and a dog.

" You coming Bailey?" Stefan asked, waving me over with a huge grin on his face.

I looked over at Kaleb nervously who glared at me across the hood of his car. " She's riding with me. Get in." His tone left no room to argue.

Stefan looks upset and annoyed at Kaleb. " Let her choose man. I'm sure she doesn't want to leave her friend."

Katrina looked between the two guys nervously. Everyone who was smart could see that there was some tension between the two, but no one knew why.

Kaleb looked pissed off, the veins on his head more prominent. I had never seen him so angry before. He looked ready to hurl his car at Stefan.

It was weird to see him act that way with one of his best friends. " Fine let her choose." he grumble, opened the door and settle himself in the driver's seat. Mira looked confused, not sure why there was tension, especially the tension involving me.

Not wanting the boys to fight, I sighed and looked at Stefan, a small smile playing on my lips. " I'll go with Mira and Kaleb. I have to help Mira with something, anyway."

I didn't lie, I did have to help Mira with her English homework. I already texted mom and dad that I'd be spending some time with her to help her out. They gave me the green light but made me promise to not drink.

Stefan looks disappointed but nod, getting in his car. " I'll see you tomorrow Kat." I waved at Katrina who waved back at me happily as she entered Stefan's car. Ryan was in the passengers seat, looking at me like I was some kind of puzzle he'd have to piece.

They drove off and I walked to Kaleb's car. Mira is already in the passengers seat and was just buckling herself up when I slid in the back. Kaleb looked at me through the rearview mirror. Our eyes connect and my breath hitches.

I looked away.

" Why are you in such a bad mood? Did Jessica not satisfy you enough the other night?" Mira snorted, of course teasing her brother but her words made me feel like my heart was squeezing in my chest. She was unaware of the painful ache her words had caused me so I could not blame her.

So did Jessica come that night after I left?

I blinked, looking out the window as my throat burned. This is why I never wanted to get my hopes up. Kaleb would always be Kaleb, a manwhore.

" Mira shut the hell up for once." He spat, pulling out of the driveway. He was angry, but he did not deny it.

I blinked quickly, hoping the tears that welled in my eyes would not fall while I bit into my lower lip. I chose the wrong car, I should've gone with Stefan. Maybe then I wouldn't feel like my heart was breaking.

Did I truly turn out like those girls he used?

I fisted my hands on my lap, my heart sinking when I realize I did, I did fall for him the same way they had done.

" Okay Mr. Moody, I'll keep my mouth shut, geez." Mira whispered and she kept to her word, the car ride was silent until we reach their home.

" Oh, looks like someone is moving in next door," Mira hummed as she bent slightly to look at the huge house next to theirs. It had been vacant for years.

We pulled into the driveway and my eyes peered at the huge moving truck parked on the side of the road. Two burly men were seen carrying a dark green sofa that looked expensive and heavy.

" Whoever it is, they got some good taste in furniture," Mira gaped as another man hops down the truck with a lamp that looked kind of ancient and expensive.

Kaleb grunted, clearly still in a foul mood. He parked the car and stepped out without a word. Mira looked at him with a glare.

" Wonder why he's been in such a mood lately." She grumble, rolling her eyes and looking at me.

" You've been awfully quiet the entire ride." Her brows furrowed as she opened the door and removed the seta belt off.

I opened the door and shrug. "Well I didn't want to get blasted out by your brother too so I thought it was best to keep my mouth sealed."

I stepped out and she does too. We both close the door simultaneously and followed after Kaleb. His mom opens the door with a bright smile on her face.

" Oh you guys finally got home. Kaleb honey, would you go help out our new neighbours please?" She pointed at the moving truck. Kaleb looked back at the truck and looked at his mom beforeCopyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

nodding stiffly.

He could never tell his mom no.

Mira's brows furrowed. " What about your ankle?"

Her words draw in her mom's attention, making her eyes drop to stare at Kaleb's feet in worry. " What happened to his ankle?" She asked worriedly.

Kaleb shoots Mira an annoyed look and answered his mom. " It's nothing, just strained it a bit. And before you get worried the nurse said I'm clear to play tomorrow." He said over his shoulder as he makes his way to the moving truck.

He wasn't limping any more so that was good.

His mom did not convinced but looked at him worriedly. Mira walks up to her and stared at her brother. " So who are our new neighbours? Do we know them?"

Their mom tear her eyes away from Kaleb and sighed, looking at Mira with a small smile. She nod. " You do, very familiar with them."

Mira's brows furrowed. " Who?"

She smiled down at Mira, giggling. " Do you remember Juliet Burner?"

Mira's eyes widen and mouth gaping in shock while my heart tumbles into my stomach. " Juliet Burner as in Kaleb's Juliet? His first love?"

Her mom nods giddily.

" She's back?" Mira whispered, looking at the huge house in shock while I fought the urge to cry.
