Chapter 1328
Skylar nodded. The unpleasant feelings brought on by Maisy were quickly cast aside.
"At Mrs. Neal Senior's birthday party that day, I promised Mr. Knight I would go to his house to look at his paintings. He said they were seriously damaged, and I need to see if they can be restored."
Gloria smiled and nodded. "That's good, go ahead."
Skylar thought of another matter. "Grandma, things with Joe are progressing well. Once he trusts me more, I'll try to bring him over to meet you. You need to take care of your health in the meantime."
Hearing Joe's name, Gloria's eyes lit up. She beamed and nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! I'm filled with anticipation. I will definitely take care of my health."
She couldn't help but think about how much she'd missed Joe.
So, while Skylar was busy tomorrow, she planned to sneak a glance at him. She wouldn't disturb Joe; she just wanted to see him from a distance. As long as he was alive, that was enough for her. She understood that everything else would take time.
But lately, Gloria had a nagging feeling that her time was running short. The only thing that comforted her was knowing Joe was alive and that Skylar would be there for him.
They had both endured so much together, and she believed their bond would only grow stronger as a couple.
She felt relieved.
Skylar noticed that Gloria's complexion had improved and smiled. "I feel the same way. Let's both stay healthy. By the way, Mr. Knight lives near several Floan restaurants. There's a place known for its roasted chicken. After my visit, I'll bring some back for us to enjoy together tomorrow."
Gloria's eyes lit up at the mention of delicious food. However, Veronica felt a pang of sadness.
Gloria didn't want Veronica to say anything to Skylar. In truth, it was only when she ate with Skylar that Gloria would manage to take a few more bites, appearing to have an appetite. But when Skylar wasn't around, Gloria couldn't help but feel nauseous, and she hardly ate anything at all.
She was truly holding on by a thread. Otherwise, she wouldn't have promised to take Gloria to see Joe.
She hoped Joe would recover his memory soon and return quickly. Gloria was truly hanging on at this point.
The next morning, Skylar got in her car and left after breakfast. Veronica turned to Gloria, asking, "Shall we head over now, Mrs. Martin Senior?"
Gloria took a sip of water, feeling a
bit uneasy from the taste of
e
breakfast lingering in her mouth. She nodded and said, "Have the driver get ready. After visiting Joe, Cll swing by the hospital."
She knew she had to do everything in her power to hold on. It was best if she could wait until Joe regained his memory. She didn't want to become a regret for him.
Though Joe appeared indifferent and detached from everyone, he was actually very sentimental.
Her only grandson deserved to be cherished. Veronica immediately started preparing everything, worried that Gloria might feel uncomfortable during the trip. She made sure to pack thoroughly.
Just as they were about to leave, a maid mentioned that someone wanted to see Gloria.
"Who could it be?" Veronica asked, surprised.
Given Gloria's health issues, she preferred a quiet life and didn't like interruptions. Therefore, anyone who wanted to visit would schedule an appointment in advance, so it was unusual for someone to arrive unexpectedly. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
