Chapter 17
Chapter 17
The light above the door of the operation ward finally turned from red to green.
In his surgical gown, the top-class surgeon approached Bradley and said in delight, “Mr. Warner, Mr.
Felix’s surgery is a success. His recovery follows after this. If all goes well, he can go back to living a
normal life.”
Bradley, who had been having butterflies in his stomach, finally felt relieved.
“Cole, reward all the medical personnel involved in the operation with an additional one-year
bonus.”
Cole replied, “Yes, sir.”
There was a wash of joy in Bradley’s eyes. He looked at Felix in the room through the glass and asked,
“When can I go in and see him?”
“After 72 hours.”
Bradley nodded. “I’ll leave him to you then.”
As for Esther, who was in the surgery ward, Bradley did not even have it in him to spare her a glance.
Now that Felix’s surgery was a success, she had lost her value.
“Cole, inform the company’s finance department to give every employee a three-month bonus.’
“Yes, sir,” answered Cole.
”
Bradley left the hospital ward in strides. He was going to the cemetery to tell the good news to his
grandfather.
After Bradley left, Cole was responsible for sending Esther to her hospital ward from the operation
ward.
He took some hair from her and gauze with Felix’s blood before he headed to the hospital’s lab test
department.
“Mr. Johnston, what can I help you with?” the head of the department asked politely.
Cole passed the samples he had individually prepared to the man and said seriously, “Run these
samples for a paternity test.”
“No problem,” the head of the department agreed without hesitation.
“When will the result be out?” asked Cole.
“Usually, 72 hours is a minimum, even if it’s expedited. But I’ll try to get you the result within 24 hours.”
The head of the department knew that Cole was Bradley’s right-hand man, so he naturally wanted to
curry favor with him.
“Please keep this confidential,” said Cole. After thinking something was off, he added, “Do the test
yourself. I want nothing to go wrong.”
“Don’t worry.”
Ten hours after the surgery, Esther finally woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she saw the white fluorescent light on the ceiling and smelled the stinging This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
scent of antiseptic.
She felt completely drained of energy. She did her best to support herself up, but her whole body was
soft and limp.
Esther bit the tip of her tongue and tasted blood in her mouth. Her foggy mind due to the anesthesia
regained a brief moment of clarity.
She took out her phone from the bedside cabinet and realized its battery had run out, so she could only
struggle to look for the adapter and charge it.
Once it was charged, she called Jasper right away. “Jasper, where are you? How’s Tinkerbell?!”
