Chapter 701
Chapter 701
Serenity seemed like she had changed her mind about the purple dress after hearing that Lucas liked purple. ‘Is she… Is she trying to draw a line with me?‘ Lucas felt uncomfortable at the thought that flashed past his mind.
Each of the fitting rooms here was a separate room. The staff guided Lucas and Lynette to one of the VIP fitting rooms.
When Lynette appeared in the same dress Serenity had worn earlier, Lucas simply glanced at her and said, “Not bad.”
Lynette knew she would not look as good as Serenity in this dress, especially when Serenity had already worn it before her. It felt like Lynette was imitating Serenity. After what had happened earlier, it would be hard for her to get another dress instead.
“Lucas, do you think I shouldn’t have argued with Serenity about the dress earlier?” An aggrieved look spread across Lynette’s face. “I–I just wanted to wear the purple dress to make you happy. I remember you said you liked purple when you were little.”
Lynette paused slightly and continued, “My marriage wasn’t as good as I wanted. All these years, I’ve been thinking about my childhood. I thought about you. I thought maybe you’d eventually come to me. Maybe you’d save me from the painful marriage. Then you showed up!”
Lynette got more and more worked up as she spoke. She reached out and grabbed Lucas by the arm.
Lucas stared down at Lynette and gently pulled his arm away. “Lynette, I’m nice to you only because you saved my life. So, if you need or want anything, I’ll do my best to provide them, but that’s all.”
Lynette stiffened, her face turning pale.
Was he implying that she should not be too greedy? Was he telling her not to think about what was never hers?
Why? Because she had always been staying in a small town? Because she never went to college? Or is it because she had been married before?!
Lynette refused to give up. She was unwilling to accept this. How could she? Lynette finally had a good life after meeting Lucas. If she could not be Mrs. Gomez, how long could this last? If he married someone else, would his future wife be able to tolerate her?
Lynette had to fight for it. Only then could she get what she wanted!
Jackson picked out a silver dress for Serenity later. Serenity put it on and could not resist admiring Jackson’s taste. He had a good eye for this. Serenity looked completely different in the silver dress. She seemed less reserved and more youthful.
“I feel like I’m a few years younger,” Serenity said, looking at her own reflection in the mirror.
“You speak as if you’re very old. You look very young to me,” Jackson said as he stood behind Serenity and looked at her in the
mirror.
“Come to think of it, you’re actually younger than me,” Serenity said. Jackson was born in November. They were the same age, but Serenity was born in July and actually a few months older than Jackson. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“So? Do you want me to call you Sis?” Jackson smiled softly.
Serenity had not heard Jackson call her Sis for a long time. Hearing this again brought back her memories. She had been unaware of Jack’s real identity when she had first met him. Otherwise, she
would not have let him call her that!
If Serenity had known Jack was the same fearful Jackson Valor, their story would have been very different. She had even regarded Jackson as her younger brother at a point in time, but… A blush spread across her face. Blushing, she looked breathtakingly beautiful in the silver gown.
A few locks of hair were out of place, and Serenity lowered her head slightly as she brushed her hair behind her ears. She never realized her gesture was too tempting for Jackson, making his heart flutter.
