Chapter 3401
Dylan turned to give her a look before returning his focus to driving and he laughed. "In the past, the master thief stole from the rich to give to the poor, but now stealing is a crime and you'll go to jail if you're caught and convicted.
"Actually, it was a crime back then too, but it was a chaotic time and hard to catch them. Now, there are surveillance cameras everywhere. If the police want to catch you, there's always a way.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
"You're still young and you're pretty. It'd be better not to follow in your master's footsteps."
Sugar laughed. "I'm just saying. I wouldn't actually do anything illegal. My masters all say that times are different now too. They've always taught us to abide by the laws and not to commit crimes."
Dylan remarked, "Your masters are still worthy of respect, then."
"There's nothing worthy of respect in that group of old men who only know how to nag us to get married every day. I don't see them getting married either. If they did, I'd immediately get married myself. Isn't it great to just live alone carefreely? But they want us to head down to the love graveyard." On the topic of getting urged to marry, Dylan had something to say. He complained to Sugar about how his family elders would nag him from time to time too.
"No way. I heard Grandma May's already picked out bride candidates for all of you though. Hasn't she picked one for you? You're fourth in line and turning thirty years old soon, right? I heard your younger brothers Peter and Austin have their bride candidates already. You don't?
"Did Grandma May skip over you? Were you adopted and you're not actually biologically a York, so your nana favors the others and doesn't care about you?"
Dylan said with certainty, "I'm definitely biologically related. My nana did pick someone for me too, I just couldn't develop any feelings for her.” "Oh, is that so? Is she a really bad person?"
"Not at all. She's a very good person. Very outstanding. I don't hate her, and I could get along with her."
Sugar's beautiful eyes flickered. "Isn't that fine, then? You could get along with her, you don't hate her, and she's outstanding too. She's a great match for you. She's Grandma May's pick, so she must be a match, background-wise, too."
Dylan was silent for a moment
before he replied, "I wanted to have a
successful love story like my
brothers too, so I pursued her, but

after trying for a few months, I realized I couldn't fall in love with her, could only be friends with her, but she wasn't willing to be just friends. She told me that we either became husband and wife, or cut all ties.
"So I picked the latter. That's why my nana keeps complaining about me now about how I'm the only one out of my brothers like this. I can't blame her for always grumbling about me and keeping an eye on me now."
Sugar hummed in understanding
and said, "If you can't develop
feelings for her, then don't waste her time. You can't force love. It's pretty kind of you to tell her directly that you didn't love her and didn't drag it out unlike some people who continue dragging it out despite obviously not loving them.
"They wait until they've found someone else who's suitable and then turn back around to break up with the girl. If they can't find anyone suitable, they'll just keep dragging it out, and the only person who ends up hurt is the one sincere about their feelings."
Dylan replied, "That's what I think, too. If I don't love her, then I don't. I can't force myself to. All I could do was to make it clear to Ms. Doyle. Actually, she really is a really good person."
If he had not run into Chameleon Fox and had spent more time with Imogen, he might have fallen for Imogen eventually. Unfortunately, his heart had already been stolen by Fox. His dream had turned into reality.
God had given him a warning early on that the bride candidate Grandma May had arranged for him was not the person he was eventually going to marry. The girl he kept running into was his true love. If she was not his true love, then why would he keep running into her?
"Do you have someone you like, then?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Oh, then you should be upfront about it and don't waste her time." Sugar did not ask who Dylan liked. On the surface, the two had only just met today. Even if their elders knew each other, they did not. It was not nice to ask too many questions.
