As the car door swung open, Gwen stepped out.
“I haven’t had a good stretch in a while.” She surveyed the group in front of her. “Shall we do this together or one at a time?”
The group of armed men glanced at their unconscious companion in the bushes and then at the single woman before them. They felt a surge of confidence.
With a cigarette in his mouth, the tattooed leader pushed aside one of his men and approached Gwen. You see, we have the numbers. Hand over the ring, and we can make this easier on you.”
She smirked coldly. “So, it’s Anthony who sent you.”
“Bitch, shut up and just hand it over. There’s no need for questions.”
In a flash, Gwen swiped the cigarette from his hand and stubbed it out on his forehead, following up with a swift kick that sent him sprawling to the side.
“You talk too much, and it’s annoying. Let’s deal with you first,” Gwen declared with a fierce glare.
“Damn it! How dare you hit me!” The tattooed leader got up and spat out a tooth. “Get her!”
The men advanced, but one by one, they were thrown back, crying out in pain. Within ten minutes, they were all groaning on the ground.
Gwen walked over to the leader, and her eyes were filled with disdain. “So, you’re the boss?”
“Um… Sort of.”
“You weren’t this weak when you threatened me earlier
She kicked him again. “Pair up and tie yourselves up. I want you to march to the police station.”
“Ah! Miss, let’s not do that! We promise we won’t do it again!”
“Do you want to be beaten to death on this street, or do you prefer to surrender to the police? Choose wisely.” Gwen’s gaze grew increasingly dangerous, and the leader understood she was serious.
“We’ll go! We’ll go!” He quickly agreed as he feared that she might change her mind. This woman was capable enough that going to the police seemed like their best chance for survival.
Seeing that the situation outside was under control, Gwen got back into the car. “Alfie, let’s go.”
Alfie looked at her with clear astonishment and admiration, but his professional demeanor soon took
over.
“Sure, Ms. Lawson.
On the way back to the Lawson residence, he grew increasingly concerned. “Ms. Lawson, should we report this to Mr. Lawson?”
“No need. They were just low–level thugs. I can handle them easily. Anthony wouldn’t dare take it further with the ring still in my possession.”
“Understood,”
“By the way, help me find that ring when we get back. After I won it, I tossed it into the trunk of one of the cars. I remember it was wrapped in a red plastic bag. Could you check my garage for it?”
Alfie was at a loss for words. The other party had already sent out thugs to demand the ring, and only

now did Gwen remember she had it. How could she store an item worth billions in a plastic bag? She was truly callous!
When Gwen returned home, she found Ryan and Leon Video–chatting with Henry in Dornwick.
On the screen, an elderly man lay on a hospital bed behind Henry, looking quite spirited–he was Marlon Lawson, the true owner of the Lawson Group.
“Grandpa! You’re awake!” Gwen exclaimed while rushing to the screen. Guilt washed over her, and her eyes glistened with tears. “I’m so sorry, Grandpa. I disobeyed, and it made you sick.”
“Foolish girl, let me get a good look at you,” he said, his volce weathered yet brimming with strength. She wiped her tears and looked up. “I’ll fly to Dornwick to visit you tomorrow.”
“The doctor says I’m recovering well, so don’t worry.”
“I heard from Henry that you’ve been managing the Savant Group in Bellmont really well. You truly are my granddaughter! It will be my 70th birthday in a few days, so come back and help me celebrate.”
“Grandpa, why are you only inviting Gwen back? What about me?” Ryan interjected.
Marlon’s kind expression suddenly turned stern. “Is there even a need to mention it? You said some nonsense at the concert, and Gwen ended up getting scolded by your fans! It’s a miracle I didn’t take it out on you!”
Ryan, taken aback by the reprimand, didn’t dare to retort. All he could do was mumble, “I was too excited during the concert that I got carried away!”
