River's P.O.V

When we got off the bus the sun was going down so it was a bit windy. After all, fall was just around the

corner. We grabbed our bags and headed towards the exit only to be stopped by two policemen.

"Jeanine Campbell you are under arrest for the murder of John Campbell. Anything you say can and

will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have an attorney present during

questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you."My heart stopped as many

questions raced through my mind but one was overpowering the rest.

After the police took my Mom Aiden and I followed along in a taxi and we were currently waiting to talk

to the head of the police department and for some reason, it felt like time wasn't passing by what so

ever.

"Are they going to take away Mom?"Aiden asked I cocked my head in his direction to find a tear on his

cheek.

I stroked his cheek softly, " I promise you Aiden I will get her back."I replied, hugging him but the hug

was cut short by the clearing of a throat.

I looked up to meet the eyes of a man who looked in his mid-forties because he seemed physically fit NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

but he had a couple of wrinkles on his face and his blonde hair was graying in some areas.

He extended his hand and I was hesitant but I shook it anyway, "Hello Ms.Campbell my name is Stefan

and I was notified that you would like to see me."He said, with a warm smile.

"Yes um, it's about my mother's case."Right when I finished what I had to say aloud crashing noise took

place which made me turn in the direction of the sound only to find Aiden collapsed onto the ground.
