Chapter 2401
Chapter 2401
Justin's gaze followed the path of Grant's fingers as they came to rest on the desk.
The plaque that once bore Justin's name now displayed a new name. [President Grant Salvador]
How impatient of them. They could not even hold off for a single night before erasing all traces of his time at Salvador Corporation.
"The board of directors elected me as the new president yesterday. I won by a huge majority vote," Grant said, his tone calm yet edged with triumph.
He rested his hands on the desk, his long, slender fingers interlacing into a steeple beneath his chin. "Ian can coordinate with my secretary to finalize the handover. I've already arranged for someone to pack your personal belongings and send them to Tideview Manor. Justin, you've worked hard these past few years. From now on, leave the future of Salvador Corporation to me."
The room fell deathly silent.
Justin's long lashes trembled faintly before the corners of his lips curled into a subtle smile. With one hand tucked casually into his pocket, he moved calmly and sank into the sofa with deliberate case.
His long legs stretched out lazily, exuding an air of nonchalance.
It was as if stepping down from the president's position wasn't a loss but a liberation-a release that freed him completely.
Grant's eyes narrowed as he observed Justin intently.
"Grant," Justin said, his voice steady and composed, "you didn't need to go through all this trouble. If you'd simply told me from the start that you wanted this position back, I would've stepped aside without hesitation."
He continued, "After all, if it hadn't been for the kidnapping years ago and your subsequent health issues, you, as the eldest son, were always the rightful heir to Salvador Corporation. Isn't that so?"
Justin was known for his military background and reputation for integrity. But now he exuded something entirely different.
At that moment, Grant felt like there was a raw, untamed defiance in Justin-unapologetic and unrestrained. It was as if this confrontation had forced another side of him to surface.
"But you shouldn't have resorted to dirty tricks like setting me up, ruining my reputation, and dragging innocent people down with me." Justin's eyes narrowed slightly, the faint smile on his face sharpening into something cold and cutting. "If that's how you want to play, I won't stand for it. Your position as president might not be as secure as you think."
Grant chuckled, his voice low and chilling. "That's no longer up to you."
"Right back at you, brother. Though I suppose this will be the last time I call you that." Justin stood up, his commanding presence radiating strength and resolve.
Without sparing another glance, Justin turned and walked toward the door, his every step exuding confidence and unyielding dignity. Not a trace of defeat lingered in his demeanor.
Grant's gaze darkened, a weight settling in his chest. There was a mix of emotions he could not quite untangle.novelbin
For years, Justin had devoted himself to the Salvador Corporation, carefully building his reputation and upholding his status.
Now, stripped of everything, with his name tarnished and his image shattered, how could he not feel anger? And yet, how could he still manage to smile?
Just as Justin reached the door, he stopped abruptly. With his back still turned to Grant, he broke the silence and said, "I have one question for you."
Grant raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable.
Justin began, "If you've always resented me and you've always wanted to take back everything I had, then back when we were kidnapped, why did you fight so hard to let me escape? By your logic, if there was no way out, you should have dragged me down with you. And if there was even a sliver of hope, you should've taken it for yourself, leaving me in that hell. That way, you'd be the only male heir left to the Salvador family. As the eldest son, there'd be no one left to challenge you."
Grant smirked faintly. "You're not wrong."
"Then tell me," Justin pressed, his voice calm but razor-sharp. "Did you save me back then, or was that kidnapping tied to you all along? Were you trying to drag me into it from the start?"
His mind was clearer than ever, yet his heart sank deeper, inching toward a dark, unthinkable conclusion
"Or perhaps you intended to get rid of me but had to change your plan at the last moment for reasons only you know."
Each word brought him closer to uncovering an ugly, terrifying truth.
