Chapter 54: 54
Chapter 54: 54
" Ma, you're welcome to my abode," Jess said opening the door for her.
" Thanks, Jess."
She carried her mother's bags into one of the empty master bedrooms in her apartment. Bringing her
mother to her home was like fulfilment to her. She was at peace, for the first time in a few weeks.
Amelia was done with high school and would be heading to college in a few weeks. She insisted she
stayed back at Jamesborough to pack her stuff and hang out with friends before she said goodbye to
those she wasn't going to college with.
" Nice house you have here sweety," her mom complimented.
" Thanks, mom, can I offer you something to eat or drink?" she inquired.
" No baby, I'm fine for now. What I would love to do is to have a good bath and rest."
" Then, let me leave you to it, I hope you're comfortable though?" she inquired of her.
" Yes, dear,"
Jess stepped out of the room to answer her phone. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
" Hello?" she responded checking the caller ID
" Hey, big sister,"
" Jackie? You changed your number?" she furrowed her brows.
" No, my battery went dead so I used my other phone and a new number to call you. By the way, I am
in town..."
" Town? which town?" she feigned ignorance.
" Your town, Jersey City, NJ." she smiled.
" When did you arrive? And why am I just knowing that?" she rubbed her chin.
" I landed a couple of hours ago. Freya's driver came to pick me, apparently, I am in her office at the
moment," she explained.
" Okay, that's fine. Ma's here by the way,"
" She came visiting?" she asked.
" Oh, no, no. I brought her to live with me. Amelia is off to college in a few weeks, you're busy with
music, Zed is always travelling and there is no one at home to take care of her, so I decided to bring
her to my home."
" That's a great idea, I'd be there in a few. Freya's having her driver drop me off at yours. So expect
me like in 20," she walked out of the office behind Freya.
" See you soon,"
" Are you okay?" her mum walked into her office. Soraya sat in her seat lost in thought. It had been a
while she last saw or heard from Zed. He still wasn't taking her calls and it was making her more
worried about him.
Could this be love?
" Soraya?!" she yelled her name.
" Ma, mom, mummy...you scared me." she placed her hand on her chest.
" That's because your mind was wandering off into space,"
" What is it you want this time around?" she sounded uninterested.
" Uhh, I came to see how you're doing. Lately, you haven't been yourself. Is everything fine?"
" Ma, I'm fine. Business is doing well, and I am fine no cause for alarm," she answered.
" Are you sure?" she grilled.
" Mom, I am 100% fine...can you do me a favour and stop asking me that question, please?" she
begged to face the balcony.
" Fine, I'd take my leave it's obvious you don't want to talk."
Please do!
" See you soon," she bid her farewell.
" Finally some peace." She checked her phone to see if there was any message or missed call, there
was nothing of that sort.
Why are you ignoring me, Zed?
It's no longer funny, just pick up my calls, please.
The was a knock at the door as Trudy hurried to get it. Jess was in the kitchen making lunch for them.
" Jackie," she ushered her in.
" Mama," she hugged her. She had missed her mom very much and was glad to see her after a long
period.
" How's NYC?"
" It's fine, Ma. Where is Jess?" she coaxed
" In the kitchen, making lunch."
Jackie dropped her bags in her twin sister's room and headed to the kitchen.
" Hey, babe," Jess greeted.
" You my darling have a whole lot of explanation to do," she smirked.
" About, what?" she demanded.
" You found a love for you
Oh darling, just dive right in and follow your lead
Well, You found a man, handsome and sweet
Oh, you never knew he was someone waiting for you
Baby, you're dancing in the dark, with him between your arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song
When you saw him in that tux, looking so handsome
I don't deserve this, honey, you look perfect tonight..." Jess sang her cover of Ed Sheeran's perfect to
her sister.
" That was beautiful, now what are you talking about?" she feigned ignorance turning her back to check
on her food.
" I'm talking about Ezra Montenero...the man who swept you off your feet. The man who's giving you
butterflies, the man-----
" Okay, okay. Slow down and take a deep breath. I'd tell you all about him later at night, now can I go
back to my cooking?" she smiled.
" Of course Mrs Montenero," she teased. She hadn't seen her sister this happy about a man since
Miguel. She was glad she was able to let go of him and move on with someone who made her happy.

"Now spill," Jackie said as her sister emerged from the bathroom. She had waited for this information
since lunch.
" Okay, first I have Miguel to thank because if I hadn't seen him and his wife, I wouldn't have gone on
the dating site in the first place..." she began.
" He got married?" Jess asked shocked.
" Yeah, to a nurse. So when I got home that day, I decided to go on a dating app to try my luck. I had
numerous messages, but he caught my attention. We talked about random things, what we like and
dislike. Our professions, family, friends ----
" What does he do?" she cut her short munching on Doritos.
" He's a university lecturer."
" Go on," Jess probed.
" So after weeks of talking, we decided it was time to meet. We scheduled a date convenient for both of
us. Freya got me a beautiful dress and shoes, then she did my hair and make-up. She even came to
drop me off at home."
" Aaaw," Jackie cooed.
" Then I heard a honk, lo and behold, he got out from his car looking handsome. I was mesmerized by
him. His voice, oh my...it was soothing and husky as well. After we left, we went for dinner, then a walk
on the beach and finally star gazing. It was late, so he insisted we came home. He dropped me off and
drove home," she finished.
" No kiss?"
" No, because if we did...we would have ended up on my bed. And you know I don't do sex on the first
date right?" she smirked.
" I'm happy for you Jess, and proud as well. You've done so well for yourself, despite all we've been
through. I'm glad our hard work actually paid off you know." Jackie confessed.
" So am I, Im just happy that chapter of our lives has come to an end. Now, it's good tidings, success,
happiness and maybe marriage." they both laughed.
