The Vampire Lord's Blood Doll

Chapter 9 It's bad

When I woke up the next morning, I opened my eyes, then I sighed heavily. The night was so long for me, as many thoughts kept me awake. As I tossed and turned in bed, I finally decided. It was time for me to find a place to live and move on. I strolled to the bathroom. After finishing there, I walked downstairs.

When I arrived in the dining room, it surprised me to find Miley in there. The sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling glass, illuminating her fair skin and highlighting the clear marks of kisses on her neck.

She was truly a sight that could drive any man crazy with infatuation. Her collarbones were beautiful. Probably, she was aware of that as she often chose strapless shoulder-baring tops to wear, and her soft curls cascaded over her shoulders, outlining a charming demeanour.

As I watched her pretty figure, I recalled the scenes from last night, but I concealed my thoughts quickly.

"How come you are up so early?" I asked her. Knowing Miley's temperament, after such a wild night, I expected her to stay in bed and sleep until noon at least.

"Oh, it's all William's fault for being so excessive last night, keeping me up, and now he's off on a business trip early in the morning, making me get up to see him off. It's so annoying." She pouted.

Her expression contained affection, her gestures, and all her moves were mixed with the playfulness of a young woman, exuding an ingrained charm.

She was truly the woman who all men dreamed about.

I pursed my lips, then I smiled at her.

"He just loves teasing me too much." Her words were filled with affection. At that moment, I truly felt envious. All that she got was only a dream for me. She was rich and beautiful and lacked nothing. She had a husband, so handsome and successful in business. Even if he made me terrified many times, I could imagine all women would have married him happily, but Miley was the lucky one.

"Let me tell you something. I've been looking for a place to live these days. If I find something suitable, I'll move out." I lowered my gaze, but I quickly looked back at her with a frown when I heard the coffee spoon in her hand drop. The small and unique silver spoon made a crisp and pleasant sound as it arrived at the table.

"Why do you want to move out?" She asked with a hint of fear in her eyes, which surprised me.

"I have been bothering you for too long. It's not right to keep staying here. I am grateful you helped me, but I think it is time to move on."

"No!" Miley interrupted me, and her expression changed. She looked angry. Her gaze was fierce, like a wolf in the forest.

I felt confused. I didn't understand her sudden change at all, but when I frowned more, she quickly smiled and adopted a coquettish tone.

"Oh, you have just started working. Your salary isn't much. How can you move out? Also, I'll be scared alone here."

I took a bite of my bread. I felt puzzled.

"Scared of what?" I asked her curiously, covering my mouth.

"Well... living alone in such a big house, I will really be terrified. This house can be so creepy at night when you can hear the wildlife around in the forest. And the storms. A storm can be so scary. Stay with me, please. You know that William is on a business trip. I got to sleep alone. What if something happens to me and I have no one to turn to?"

She moved closer to me and held my hand, her eyes begging to me.

I sighed. I couldn't reject her offer. She helped me a lot, after all. She was the reason I wasn't becoming homeless, sleeping on the cold street where I could have been a victim of a crime easily. I couldn't just leave her after her husband offered me a job, only because of her, therefore I had an income enough to keep myself. But thinking of that, Mr. William appeared in my mind again. He had done nothing, yet I couldn't stop thinking of him. A man so outstanding, exuding enough allure to linger inside my mind all the time.

I felt so despicable and shameless. How could I have such fantasies about my friend's husband? How could I imagine him having an intimate moment with me? I didn't even want to think about seeing them together again. It could happen anytime, as last night proved to me that they weren't shy at all, and they neither bothered to go into their bedroom when they were in need. I didn't want to face such an embarrassing moment again. It wasn't my home, and being a guest here made me feel constrained as well.

"I can't keep living here forever."

"Oh, at least stay until William returns from his business trip. Okay?" Miley insisted.

I forced myself to smile. Actually, what reason did I have to refuse her offer if Mr. William was away? I was thinking maybe I could stay for another month, and after that, when I saved a little more, that would definitely keep me for a while, I could leave, making Miley satisfied.

Probably, because of Miley's influence, the company paid me well. Actually, I have never had a salary so good in my life. I heard that this company kept their employees well. A secretary mentioned she was being paid thirty thousand a month, which was considered a high salary. After she paid off her rent, she still could save a good amount.

"Okay, I will stay until your husband returns. I won't let you be scared alone here." I smiled at her. She stood up and rushed to me, going round the long table, and hugged me so tightly, I felt she would break me. She was like a child who just got her wish. I hugged her as well.
