Chapter 17
The sudden ringing took Tiffany aback. Ivy and Kelly were startled from the outside as well. The two had come to the bathroom to avoid everyone and talk about this private matter. They hadn't expected anyone else to be in there. Ivy had always been hot-tempered. She pounded on the door. "Who's in there?"
The next moment, the door to the stall was opened. Tiffany walked out.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"You?" When Ivy saw her, she was furious. "Why did you hide in the bathroom and eavesdrop on us?"
"You've misunderstood. I happened to be using the bathroom just now." As Tiffany spoke, she walked to the sink.
Ivy grabbed her arm. "Tiffany, I don't care what's going on between you and Mr. Lewis. You better behave. If not, I have tons of ways to get you kicked out of Lewis Group!"
"Ivy." Kelly pulled Ivy back. "Forget it. I believe that Tiffany didn't do this on purpose."
With Kelly's help, Tiffany got the chance to escape.
Watching her leave, Ivy stomped her foot in fury. "Kelly, why do you always side with Tiffany?"
"I don't. I just don't want you to offend someone you can't." Smiling, Kelly glanced at Tiffany's direction. She thought to herself, "Tiffany had done her a huge favor after all. Should I be helping you now?"
...
After work, Tiffany wanted to head home. But just after she reached Lewis Tower's entrance, Vincent's car pulled up.
The car window was rolled down, revealing Vincent and Kelly inside the car. "Tiffany, get in. We should go together." Kelly invited her.
Tiffany shook her head. "No, thank you."
"Oh, are you planning to take a cab there?" Kelly asked. "It's quite a distance. It would cost you dozens of dollars to call a cab."
Tiffany was usually thrifty. She would not even spend dozens just on a meal, let alone calling a cab.
The truth was that she hadn't planned on attending the farewell dinner. After all, she had zero presence in the company. Nobody would notice it, even if she did not go. Because of that, she had deliberately waited for everyone to leave before taking her time to head downstairs. She hadn't expected to run into Vincent and Kelly.
She waved her phone. "I've already called a cab. You guys go ahead."
"I see." Kelly nodded. "We'll head over first, then. See you later."
"Yeah."
Tiffany watched as Vincent's car drove off. She knew that she would not be able to avoid things this time. She called for a ride on her phone.
It was rush hour. Calling for a cab would cost a hundred dollars, while a shared ride was only half that. After some thinking, Tiffany opted for the shared ride. After a ten-minute wait, the car arrived.
As Tiffany pulled open the door to the back seat, she stumbled back in shock.
A man and a woman were already sitting in the back. As she opened the door, she caught them making out aggressively.
The scene was too much for Tiffany, who had never seen such a thing before. She froze on the spot.
At that point, the man turned his head and looked at her. With a dissatisfied look, he glanced at Tiffany. "Are you done staring?"
Tiffany snapped out of it. She apologized profusely and closed the door hurriedly.
The driver leaned out from the front seat. "Are you getting in, young lady?"
Thinking about what she had just seen, she wondered if she should call another ride. But Kelly had called her right at that moment.
She asked when Tiffany would arrive and even said that she was waiting for Tiffany before they cut the cake.
Tiffany had no choice but to get in and sit in the shotgun seat.
The noise from the backseat continued. But the driver pretended as if he could not hear anything. He merely focused on driving. Tiffany was amazed by him.
As she casually looked up, she glanced at the rearview mirror. She happened to meet the man's dark stare.
Feeling guilty, Tiffany quickly averted her gaze and looked outside the window.
After ten minutes, the car arrived at its destination.
Tiffany paid the driver and got out of the car quickly. She headed into the restaurant without turning back.
She didn't notice that a man's gaze was following her every move.
...
When Tiffany got there, Kelly was surrounded by everyone as she cut the cake.
The cake was all distributed quickly. Only then did Kelly notice her. She passed Tiffany her own slice of cake. "Tiffany, you can have mine."
Her words instantly attracted everyone's attention to Tiffany in the private room.
Tiffany shook her head. She grabbed an orange from the table. "I'll just have some fruit."
But Kelly insisted on giving her the cake. She then went off for a karaoke session with Ivy and a few people.
Holding the plate of cake, Tiffany looked around. She found a corner and sat down there.
Right after she did, the door to the private room was pushed open. A man walked inside.
When Tiffany saw who the man was, she nearly choked on her cake. Wasn't he the man who had been in the shared cab just now? Had he entered the wrong room?
"You're here, darling." Ivy walked
through the crowd in her red dress,
heading straight for the man. She
stopped by his side and linked his arm with hers.
The man looked at her with a naughty smile. "How could I not be here when you asked me to?"
Seeing how intimate they were, the colleagues started asking questions.
Holding the man's arm. Ivy said proudly, "Let me introduce my boyfriend, Jenson Schuman."
After she introduced him, the room erupted.
"Damn! Ivy, your boyfriend is so handsome!"
"What are you and Kelly trying to do here? Kelly suddenly resigned to get married, and you suddenly brought your boyfriend over here. Are you guys trying to make us jealous?"
"You're doubling the good news! Congratulations!"
"It looks like we'll have to prepare another wedding gift this year then."
Overjoyed, Ivy was immersed in everyone's wishes.
Sitting in the corner, Tiffany's eyes nearly fell out. Recalling everything she saw in the car just now, she could not bring herself to smile at all.
Did Ivy know that her boyfriend had been making out with another woman just a moment ago?
Tiffany could never tolerate cheating in a relationship. That was why she had cut Brianna and William off immediately after she had found out about the cheating scandal
She couldn't accept their betrayal, nor could she tolerate such sordid relationships.
Although she didn't want to meddle, she felt some discomfort when she saw Ivy holding Jenson's arm.
Just as Tiffany was about to look away, Jenson glanced over. Their eyes met. The next thing she knew, Jensen actually flashed her a smile. Immediately afterward, Ivy gave her a murderous glare.
Tiffany was speechless.
Amid the awkwardness, Vincent and Alex entered the room.
Everyone in the room stood up. "Mr. Lewis."
Kelly had probably headed over here first to avoid suspicion, while Vincent had deliberately waited until the end before he came up.
