Chapter 223
Lemmy felt Orion was genuinely kind to her, different from anyone else.
She once mistook his kindness as a sign he had feelings for her. Why else would he be so nice? But, in the end, it was just wishful thinking on her part. Orion seemed choked up for a moment before he finally said, "It's not out of the question."
Lemira's heart skipped a beat. What did he mean by that?
Orion continued, "Since you've cut ties with your brothers, you can consider me family from now on."
"I'm not in need of a brother."
Lemira stood up, "I'm full. I'm going to pack."Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
She left, feeling a bit downhearted.
Orion watched her leave, his gaze complex. Thaddeus walked in, "Done talking? Ready to let go this time?"
Orion remained silent, downing his glass of wine in one gulp, his eyes dark and brooding.
Lemira's feelings were easy to read. But he felt he wasn't worthy, nor did he have the right.
The next day, Lemira headed straight for the airport.
She turned to Orion, suddenly hugging him, "I'm leaving. Thanks for being there for me over this period of time. I'll never forget you."
Orion stiffened for a moment before patting her back, "Contact me anytime. I'll always be here."
Lemira then awkwardly let go.
Thaddeus also came over, "I want a hug too."
Orion blocked Thaddeus with a stern face, "We're running out of time. Go check her in."
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of Lemon."
Lemira glanced back at Orion, dragging her suitcase away.
Two hours later, the plane landed at Orvin Airport. Stepping off, Lemira felt a bit nervous, "I wonder if our project will stand out at the event."
Thaddeus encouraged, "Have some confidence."
BUMS
He hadn't expected Lemira to be so talented. He thought Orion was just paving the way for her, but she really had the skills.
They went directly to the venue.
Lemira, with her portfolio and
project in tow, made her way to the display area. Thaddeus, wearing a baseball cap to hide his face
followed her in.
Scanning the room, he spotted someone familiar and quickly excused himself, "I've got to hit the restroom, Lemon. Keep checking."
Lemira nodded and got settled with prepared materials. Looking up, she saw Lucian.
She immediately lowered her head. What was a Langston doing here? Talk about bad luck!
Lucian saw her too and approached with a surprised look, "Lemmy! Didn't expect to see you here!"
Alaric frowned, examining Lemira, "Why are you wearing Maple Group's logo? Don't you know they're competing with Lucian right now?" Hearing this, Lemira scoffed. She lifted her gaze, a chill in her eyes, "Yeah, I know."
"Since you know that, why still working part-time at the Maple Group then? If you're short on cash you could've just told us. Even
though Asher cut you off, Luial ne
and
I wouldn't leave you without pocket Money"
Alaric was visibly upset. After all, Lemira was a Langston; why would she work for their competitor?
Lemira stood up firmly, "I have nothing to do with the Langstons anymore. Where I work is none of your business." "Lemmy, even if you hate Asher, you shouldn't do this to Lucian."
"To me, you're all the same."
Lemira's tone was cold and distant, "I made myself clear before. Pretend we don't know each other if we ever meet again." Lucian held back Alaric, "Forget about it. Let's go over there. Lemon's upset right now. Let's not push her too harshly."
