Chapter 20
Chapter 20 He’s Here Maia smiled again. “I know w you won't.” Errol looked worried as he gestured, “Maia, when you're back in Solisar, you must watch out for those assholes.”
Now that their mother was no longer around to keep the elders in check, things had become even more complicated in Starlight Entertainment than in the winery.
Maia nodded with a smile.
“What are you two talking about so early in the morning
“Good morning, Nigel. Are you here to pick up my sister?” Errol greeted Nigel through sign language.
“Yeah, the flight is at 8 a.m. We better get going.”
Errol nodded. “Please take care of my sister.”Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Nigel made an okay sign. “You know | will.”
“Give it your all, Nigel. She’s single now.
Nigel shook his head with a laugh and said to Maia, “Kids nowadays.”
Maia only let out a faint smile.
“Get in the car. We're running late. You didn’t pack anything?” Nigel saw Maia had no luggage.
Maia nodded.
She assumed the Larkins had thrown her stuff away when they divorced, so she did not try to
retrieve it.
“Well, you can buy new clothes in Solisar.”
“I'd love to, Nigel, but | can’t afford them,” Maia said helplessly.
“Then I'll buy them for you, okay? The latest collection.”
Maia chuckled and said jokingly, “I thank you in advance then, for your generosity.”
Seeing her radiant smile, Nigel caressed her hair and said, “Come on. Time to go.”
Maia waved at Errol and then got into the car with Nigel.
The car soon pulled onto the wide asphalt road and headed toward the airport. Maia finally turned on her phone. +15 BONUS
There was a missed call from Cedric. Her finger hovered over the screen for a while, but she decided not to call him back. Maia was determined to keep her promise not to see him after the anniversary. She muted the phone and put it in her pocket. Very soon, she would board the plane and never see him again.
The car moved steadily for around 10 minutes before a loud bang was heard. The vehicle jolted forward, and Maia nearly yelped. “What happened?”
It was early in the morning, and the city streets were clear. How could anyone rear-end them?
Maia looked over her shoulder and saw it was a black Bentley. She recognized the license plate
number.
‘It's Cedric’s car! Why? Why is he here?”
“Stay in the car, Maia. I'll handle it.” Not knowing who the car’s owner was, Nigel opened the car door and got out. The back passenger door of the Bentley opened, and a man in a black coat stepped out.
‘Its him!’
Maia’s heart pounded. ‘Didn’t he return to Larkin Manor to deal with Rita’s kidnapping?” Cedric headed straight toward the back seat of the BMW.
