Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Hate It When Women Cry

He frowned and grabbed her jaw. “Why? Should | let a kidnapper escape?” “Kidnapper?” Maia gasped. “What on earth are you talking about?”

He tossed the box onto her, and its lid opened, revealing the voodoo doll. “W-What is it?”

“Drop the act, will you?”

When she met his sinister gaze, her heart pounded. She looked down at the doll and saw Rita’s name on it. Realization struck her.

“You think | kidnapped Rita? Cedric, | was with you last night, remember? | only found out about what happened when Zera called you.”

He began to squeeze her jaw as he looked grimmer. “You wanted to spend the evening with me to have an alibi, right? And I’m the best witness there is!”

For love, she had forsaken her pride. She braved the snow the day before she left Prismara to spend their wedding anniversary with him. Despite this, he believed it was all part of a scheme. For him, she could give up everything. Even now, when she was humiliated, she still loved him. Maia shook her head. “She killed our child, and | despise her, but | could never exact revenge because of you. | know how devastating it is to lose a mother, and | couldn’t let it happen to

you... Her voice became so soft that one could hardly hear it.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Cedric scoffed. “Maia, you claim to love me, but you’ve done countless disgraceful things behind my back.” Maia looked like she was about to cry. There had been many baseless accusations against her.

She had never tricked him into having sex to get married, never went after Zera out of jealousy, and never tried to steal documents from his company.

Maia only went into the record’s room to review some old documents to help him secure a deal. She had tried to explain herself repeatedly, but he remained unconvinced.

‘Do | need to explain it all again now?” Tearing up, she said, “I’m such a disgrace to you, huh?”

When her tears fell on his fingers, he loosened his grip on her jaw.

Then he let her go and said in disgust, “Stop crying! | hate it when women cry.”

She felt her cheek and found that it was wet.

‘Maia, why did you have to cry now? Your tears would only annoy him more!’

She quickly wiped her tears away and took a deep breath. “Was last night the only time you didn’t see me as a horrible person?” Her words felt wrong the moment she said them.

“No... You were kind to me last night because | promised to leave you alone. Or you were just showing me pity as an ex— husband would, right?”
