Chapter 189
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 59
Rowan's POV
Alexander or Ander as I loved to call him was my younger brother. The second son of the werewolf king and someone that I hate so much I can feel it in my bones.
"Hello mate, or should I say murderer?"
Alexander said while staring Mika straight in the eyes. Something had happened between those two that I had no idea of.
The night Mika came into the pack and asked to work with me, she was covered in blood. I didn't bother to ask her whose blood it was even though the scent the blood carried was recognizable. I didn't ask because it wasn't my business or maybe because it was a satisfaction to know my brother got his "perfect" ass handed to him.
I waited for days after that to get a call from the king about his death but when nothing came, I assumed he was probably still alive or Mika had managed to hide the body very well.
Now, I looked back at Mika with disappointment. She had just one assignment and she failed.
"What do you want, Ander?" I asked in anger. My jaws were so clenched they could burst any moment.
I had to fold my hands against my chest to stop myself from punching him hard.
He curled his lips in disgust. "Ander? You know I hate it when you call me that stupid name,"
"Really?" I moved closer to him. "Then leave," I spat.
"I will after we talk about the Lycan you want to unleash," he winked at me.
Fuck! How did I trust the king enough to not tell him such a thing?"
"He told you, didn't he?"
He cocked his eyebrow. "Is it only murderers you harbor in here or a variety of all criminals?"
Attacking him right out there would call for suspicion so I only said, "You can walk into my pack, and throw all sorts of insults
at me but the moment you get my pack members involved, you and I would have a problem,"
“I'm not here to disrespect anyone. I'm only here to help my brother and it'll be good if I don't get to see her face while I'm here,”
I turned around to see Mika With a defeated look before she walked back into the pack.
"Stay out of her way then," I spat.
He grinned. "You wouldn't be protecting her if you knew what happened,"
I shrugged. “I don't care about what happened. She's important to me. The moment you try to mess up with her, I might have to kill you," "You would kill your family because of her,"
"She's more family than you are and more than you can ever be,"
I answered with my own grin this time.
He scoffed and mumbled under his breath. I didn't bother to ask what he wanted because I was more in a hurry to get rid of him. Reluctantly, I allowed him to walk into my pack. I didn't take him anywhere other than my office.
"Don't you think I deserve a tour around the pack?"
"Don't you think you deserve a punch or two but I'm just being lenient?"

"I don't think I've done anything to deserve getting beaten up,'
I also don't think you deserve a tour,"
He smirked.

Alexander was a bit of a mix of his mother and the King and that gave birth to the differences in our looks. He grew up living the perfect life while I grew up the opposite. That was one of the reasons why I hated him.
"What do you want?"
I turned down the hourglass in my office and pointed at it. That was the number of time he got to spend in my pack. Anything outside that, I wouldn't be responsible for whatever happened to him next.
“Father called me. He said you're trying to unleash a Lycan,"
I shrugged. "And?" Asking further to see if the King actually told him who the Lycan was.
"And that you might be going through some things. He said you didn't sound fine on the phone,"
I clicked my tongue. "Cut to the fucking chase, Ander, what are you doing here?" I spat.
He smirked, knowing I'd caught him. He only used the king as an excuse to come here. Nothing more, nothing less.
"I've been trailing after a vampire for three months now and my investigation brought me here,"
Ander was an enforcer. He worked under the king but he mostly worked for himself. Ander was good at things like this and by the time he was thirteen, he could chase after cases for months without coming back home. Another reason why I hate him.
"Am I the vampire?" I asked with a shrug when he stared at me.
"You know what I'm talking about, don't you? You didn't seem fazed when I mentioned it,"
"Maybe because I'm not interested in whatever your investigation was," I answered plainly.
"I need your help, Rowan, and I believe you need mine too. I'll help you with the Lycan and you'll help me with my vampire," "What would you do about the Lycan? It's not as though you would know what to do,"
He smirked. "Whoever is the Lycan just has to shift. Shifting is all it takes to become their true nature,"
I raised an eyebrow. Yeah, right! I never had hope in him anyway so I wouldn't say I was disappointed.
“I'm serious, Rowan. When you want to shift into a wolf the first time, it's excruciating but the second time, you imagine your wolf, and after months of shifting, it just comes to you easily. It's the same for a Lycan. Just imagine yourself being the Lycan,"
His words were beginning to bore me out. If it were that easy, I would've shifted into a Lycan several uncountable times. "I'm guessing you've tried all that,"
"You should leave," I told him but paused when something suddenly occurred to me.
I looked up at him and he had this stupid grin on his face.
"The King told you, didn't he?"
He shook his head. "Nope, you just did,"
I took a deep breath.
"I always knew you were different Really? A wolf and a lycan in one body? How the hell do you do that?"
"Ander. I won't play nice with you,"
I threatened him.
"You never did from the start. You always hated me for no reason. True, we don't share the same mother but that didn't call for the hatred❞

Yeah, right!
"I don't know who your vampire is so maybe you should leave my pack now,"
Telling him about this Vampire called Zack wasn't the problem. Ander was a smart enforcer. He would figure out everything but I didn't want to get Harriette involved and that was my only fear.
"You're protecting someone, Rowan and I'll be sure to find out whoever it is that you're trying to protect,"
"Should I take that as a threat?" I asked him.
"Can I stay in your pack for the next two weeks while I look around?"
"No," I replied with a stiff smile.
"I'll give you something you can't reject but only on one condition, you let me stay and do my investigation. I wouldn't trespass and talk to anyone I'm not supposed to talk to. I'll do everything with your permission,"
"What do you have to offer?"
He brought out a file.
"In here is crucial information that can help you with your lycan. Say yes to the deal first and I'll give you,"
"How am I supposed to know whatever this is would help me?" I asked him.
"Say yes first,"
"Fine! Yes! You can stay but stay away from Mika,"
"It has information about your mother and I think this is exactly what
I snapped my gaze at him. "My mother?"
Alexander moved closer to the door as I said those words.
"My mother?"
you need,"
He knew there was a limit to what I could take. Talks about my mother had always been avoided. Not because the King didn't want to talk about her but because I'd stopped him from talking about it.
"The same bitch who left me for that bitch of your mother is the one you want me to read about," I growled.
"You stay calm, okay, Rowan? She was a wolf and a lycan too. Maybe this could help you,"
I paused. It wasn't because of what he said but it was because of the scent that the summer wind brought to me. It kind of calmed my nerves and wreaked havoc at the same time.
Alexander opened the door, probably to escape my wrath but standing outside was Harriette.
Finally!
