The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 2013

Frank calmly explained, "I've never encountered the pill that the elder gave me, but I have a feeling if I recklessly attempt to counteract it, it would get worse rather than help matters."

The members of Mystic Sky Guild were left silent in turn, while Winter walked up and crouched by Frank's bed.

Taking his hand and pressing it against her cheek, tears welled up in her eyes as she cried, "Please, you have to survive this! H-How could I live if anything were to happen to you?"

Frank, however, chuckled at her words. "What are you saying, silly? You should do your best and live even if I die. Have you forgotten about your mother?"

"I..." Winter was stumped.

Unable to come up with a response, she threw herself at Frank and bawled.

"Okay, okay..."

Frank flashed a pained smile, patting her head while looking at everyone in the room. "What's with all the long faces? I'm still alive, and that geezer can't do anything to me if I find the evidence I need in three days."

Despite his optimism, the members of Mystic Sky Guild were simply not cheering up and remained scowling.

"Darling, I heard that you were poisoned? What happened?"

That was when the door opened, and a dazzling figure entered.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

Frank looked up and saw that it was Vicky Turnbull, smiling as always but also appearing worried.

"Hey." He nodded, feigning nonchalance. "It's nothing—I just made a wager against an elder of the Martial Alliance. Just had a little episode when the poison took effect, but I'm better now."

"Better? You were puking blood," Tidus muttered.

"Watch it." Frank glared at him, and Tidus promptly turned silent.

"Puking blood?"

Vicky panicked right then. "It's that serious? I'll call my family right now-I'm sure that the Martial Alliance and even the government would give my family some leeway..."

She appeared so flustered that she no longer appeared to be the girlboss who was always in control, and her fingers were trembling even as she took out her phone.

"Alright."

Frank caught her wrist, flashing a pained smile. Don't listen to them exaggerating. It looks serious, but the pill really isn't a big deal. I just need to prove my innocence in the next three days, and I will have the antidote."

"Antidote..." Peter sighed nearby at the mere mention.

He had seen how it happened-Frank was accusing the mayor Stanley Durban of being the real culprit, and yet, the Martial Alliance elder had given Stanley the antidote.

Was that geezer not clearly harboring ill will, siding with the villain just to bring Frank down?

Still, Peter ultimately did not tell the truth, while Vicky exclaimed, "In that case, I'll call up everyone in my family and find the real culprit!"

"Wait."

Frank stopped Vicky from rushing things, and instead suggested after some thought, "The Turnbulls are a business dynasty and would have trouble gathering information.

"Here, take this dagger," he said, passing Vicky the so-called token that Stanley had given him before but was now used as evidence to frame him. "Ask your family connections and find where this dagger is from-from who forged it to who bought it."

"This dagger?"

Vicky took the dagger but nodded without hesitating. "I'll ask someone to get it done right away. Given my family's standing in business and commerce, we'd soon have something."
