Chapter 2014
"Good." Frank nodded and watched as Vicky hurried away.
The members of Mystic Sky Guild then closed in around him. "What should we do, chief?"
"You boys?"
Frank took a moment and gathered his thoughts before turning toward Peter. "Send the boys out. Tell them to keep an eye on Phoenix Ardron, but be careful not to get caught. Do you understand?"
"You got it." Peter nodded and left right then.
"As for everyone else, just go about your daily lives-don't stir waves, but just be extra careful."
"Yes, chief."
"And you, Scarface."
Frank turned toward Scarface Tucker with a serious stare. "Tell Kat to stay put. If she has to go anywhere, she must bring some bodyguards and watch out for strangers.
"As for you-focus on your training for the upcoming Martial Tournament."
"Understood." Scarface nodded.
"Phew..."
Frank sighed in relief after making the arrangements. "Alright, you can all leave now. There's no need to get paranoid—I mean, who can you trust if not me?
"Even if I don't have evidence, I'll be able to make an antidote in three days. I'm definitely not dying from it."
Everyone was relieved at that.
"Tidus..."
That was when a young girl with freckles on her face entered the ward.
Tidus turned and was grumpy as soon as he saw her. "Wait, what are you doing here?"
She looked no more than twenty. Her cheeks were a flushed red, and she was not particularly pretty.
Tidus' attitude also left her flustered. "Y-Your friends told me you didn't have lunch yet, so I..."
Frank did a double take. "Who's this?"
Tidus was scratching his head grumpily while glaring at everyone in Frank's room, looking like he would flee at any time.
Eventually, he sighed. "Sorry, chief-she's just a brat I saved from some thugs before, but she's now really clingy, saying stuff like I'm a good man and stuff."
Then, wheeling on the girl with a viciously glare, he snapped, "I've told you many times before, haven't I?
I'm not a nice guy-I'm the head of a mob! If you keep clinging to me, I'll strip you naked right here and leave you in the streets!" © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
"Pfft..."
Be that as it may, everyone from Frank, Winter, to the members of Mystic Sky Guild all snickered at Tidus' words, as they could tell from his face that he did not mean it.
"I-I'm not afraid!"
The freckled girl appeared meek but did her best to straighten herself, looking Tidus in the eye. "I-I attended lessons on psychology at the
community college. I know one
not a bad man... you're just
compelled by circumstances, right?
"My grandma also told me that there are no bad people-only people who force themselves to be bad. And I knew from the moment you saved me that day that you're a good man... A very good man."
"Oh hell, just spare me already!"
et
Tidus was snapping under the girl's endless yapping and burying his face in his palms as he groaned, "What do you want, brat?! Money? Fine,
pay you off right now Just take it and get out of my sight,
okay?!" e
