Chapter 160
Chapter 160
RYN
The wind blew my hair behind me as Iran as best as I could in the direction of Alpha Jack
The attack of my leg hadn’t fully healed yet, so it was more of a half limp, half run, and as he got farther away towards a car parked in the distance. I began to panic.
I can’t fail in this mission. I had one job, and that was to sectire iny inheritance and keep Jack captive so he could be taken into custody.
Now, El’s in trouble. It’s becoming known that I am actively involved with mutants and I have no idea if Theon and Miro will even let us go at all.
All this can’t be for nothing!
I pumped my aching legs faster, hoping to meet up with Alpha Jack who had reached his car and opened his car door.
Suddenly, something whooshed past me, and before I knew it, I saw Theon rip off Alpha Jack’s door before yanking him out
of the seat./
In a flash, he had the man pinned against the side of his car, with one forearm against his throat.
I got there in time, a bit out of breath and still okay.
“What are you doing?! You’re supposed to be protecting me!” Jack struggled.
“Well, how am I supposed to do that when you’re trying to run away?” Theon replied cooly.
“I need to leave as soon as possible. It’s a matter of national security!”
Theon scoffed. “Yeah, sure. As soon as you hand over all the documents pertaining to Ryn’s inheritance.”
Alpha Jack glared at Theon. “I can’t do that.”
“Why not?” I asked, my voice shaking with anger. “Why won’t you give me what’s rightfully mine?!”
Jack rolled his eyes, and the act infuriated me so badly that I kicked his shin.
“You fucking bitch!” He growled, trying to struggle out of Theon’s hold, but my mate kept him pinned. “You will never have that inheritance!” His eyes gleamed mischievously.
I remembered seeing him run with a briefcase earlier, but now it wasn’t in his hand. So I went around the car and found it sitting in the passenger seat. Bringing it out, I came back to him again.
“What’s the code?”
“Well, wouldn’t you like to know.” He sneered.
I glanced at Theon, who signalled to some men to hold Jack hostage. Then he nodded with his head to a far distance, indicating we could talk there.
When we went far enough out of earshot, I placed the briefcase on the floor beside me, while Theon rested his hands on his waist and sighed.
“I made a deal with my father.”

Chapter 160
My heart stuttered, because that is never a good thing, especially since I know how Theon feels about his Dad.
“What kind of deal?”
“I have to protect Alpha Jack and in exchange, the ban preventing you from Diamond city will be lifted”
I blinked in shock. Theon did that for me?
“So is it lifted?”
Theon nodded. “But that means I can’t hurt Alpha Jack or force him to bend to your will. I have to be on his side.”
I nodded slowly, starting to comprehend where this was going and not liking it one bit. 1 looked away, lost in thought for a
moment.
Then I sighed and closed my eyes in frustration.
“My parents were murdered.”
Theon’s brows furrowed, “How? By whom?” Then he shook his head. “First off, I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Yeah, it’s fine.” I licked my lips, “But Jack sitting on my inheritance is somehow tied to the truth of how they died, and it’s why I can’t come back yet or I will never find out the truth.”
Theon nodded. “I understand, but I can help. We have resources at our disposal.”
“Same resources under the King’s watchful eye?” I scoffed. “Look at the length he went to, to sabotage me from joining the elite soldiers. Do you think he would also let me find out the truth of what really happened to my parents?”
Theon frowned. “Are you saying my father was involved in their death?”
I sighed, realizing this was a heavy accusation without concrete facts. “I am saying that he knew about my inheritance. Remember the day the King tried to force my will in the boys‘ locker room during the tournament and you came in and told me to leave?”
Theon nodded.
“Well, I remember the King wanted me to forfeit so bad that he promised Alpha Jack would let me have access to my parents‘ properties. If and only if I didn’t participate and I quit the training.” I finished. “He knew all along.”
Theon blinked, his eyes swimming in thought. “Fine,” He said, rubbing his jawline, “but you know whoever you’re working with is working with mutants and that is a taboo in our land. Any form of liaison with mutants will automatically make you a breaker of law and a criminal. This could kick you out of the Elite Force.”
I pondered on his heavy words. He was right, and I realized with a breaking heart that I had to make a heavy choice. Be a fugitive of law and get answers or stick with Theon and probably not get the answers I need, not because he was incapable, but because of those who lurk in the shadows and watch my every move.
I turned around and found El in the distance, still on her knees. Her eyes were on me and I know she was counting on me to make the right decision. I turned back to Theon, my mouth suddenly dry. “I’m sorry, but I have to choose my parents.”
I looked away, knowing deep down I was offending Theon and I did not have enough strength to bear whatever hurt could be in his eyes. A
The wind carried my hair around my face and suddenly, but softly; I felt Theon brush it off and slide it behind my ear. My shoulders came up instantly at the delicious sparks that sizzled along my earlobe.
My eyes met his, and to my surprise, there was nothing but admiration in his cold, blue eyes.

I noticed the faint stubble of a beard growing on his face and a random thought about how Theon would look so daddy coded if he let his beard grow crossed my mind.
Biting off a smile, I watched as his gaze settled on my lips and when his fingers traveled from my earlobe to my chin, the pull between us became electric. My hand rested on his chest and then it travelled up his neck, where I suddenly had the urge to sink my teeth in.
Instead, I looked up and found him smiling down at me.
“What?”
“Your eyes are pitch black”
“Oh!” I blinked profusely, completely at a loss on how to turn it off.
“It’s okay.” Theon whispered, leaning down. “It’s nice to see you want me just as much as I want you.”
And then he kissed me, and the world around me disappeared. My pain. My decision. The chaos. Everything.
I closed my eyes, loving the way his lips and tongue dominated mine and a wave of desperation coursed through my body as I tasted the desire on his lips.
Theon suddenly pulled back, his blue eyes flickering to midnight
He bit his bottom lip, sending desire shooting straight to the spot in between my legs.
Then he looked at the wristwatch. “You don’t have much time. My father will soon be here, so do what you have to do. IN wait. I’ll wait for you.”
My breath stuttered as my heart raced. “I might do things that would make you want to hunt me.”
“Then you better hope I don’t catch you.”
I froze, not because I was afraid but because something about that threat, coupled with the detachment in his eyes, made me hornier.
Taking a deep breath, I gave one curt nod, before grabbing the briefcase and going towards El.
When I got here, I once again met Miro’s gaze and my mouth went dry again. “Please, let her go.”
His brows furrowed, and then he looked behind me before reluctantly releasing my partner.
El got up off the floor, facing Miro and giving him her worst glare, and he returned the favor before she rolled her eyes and faced me.
Immediately, I showed her the case.
“We have little time. Jack is not budging. What’s the plan?”
El glanced at the case before turning around and going to the car
Then she opened the boot and grabbed something.
Suddenly, a scream pierced the air and, to my terror, El forced a distraught Billie out of the car.
“We use this one to make him budge.” El said, assessing her from head to toe like she was a commodity. “Her father thinks she’s in a safe house. He’ll be shocked to find out otherwise.”
